Maverick replacement tires

The Maverick Hybrid is notatruck, in terms of off road modifications for larger tires, lifts, etc. It's not made for that and the axles and suspension can't handle it. The issues with mods have been well documented in MTC. There's a reason Utah is riddled with tacomas and frontiers. Keep the Hybrid stock or get a tremor and keep that stock too.

Yes, I am starting to think that I bought the wrong vehicle. I drive a dodge minivan that I love. I bought the maverick only for the mileage.

I am sure that they already are tons of posts about best replacement tires for the maverick but I cannot find them.
I ma going to have a 2025 XLT AWD Hybrid at the beginning of next year.
One of the first thing I want to do it to replace the tires.
I shall be driving mostly on pavement but I live in Utah so we get snow and I plan to drive on dirt and gravel roads to go visit the state of Utah.
I have been looking at tires and videos on YouTube. I like the maxis and falken but I think that they are overkill for what I need. For year s I have been using general snow tires which are very good.
Low road noise is important for me as well as punctures resistance especially side walls.
What do you recommend.

When looking for new tires I always go on Tire racks site even if I am not buying from them because often they will have actual video tests and reviews from other buyers to give me a general idea of a tires particular characteristics.

Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires. They check the boxes you asked about and I would buy them again.

They work great on my FWD Hybrid in snow and my very long & steep gravel driveway. Low road noise and they also handle well on wet or dry pavement.

Thank you for reply. I am not familiar with tires sizes. I am not looking for a wider tire but for a taller tire to increase the ground clearance. Which size should I choose?

Exactly, why? MSRP, tax, tag, title, inspection and accessories. It's more $$$ than you think. Last thing I want to do is rip the new tires off. I'm gonna keep the original tires as long as possible. Instead, I got a 2nd set of cheap steelies and snow tires. The original tires are now going to last even longer. When I get to gravel in summer, I just slow down.

I went through all the options and decided the best one was to use up the tires I had before replacing them. 99.99% of my driving is commuting on good paved roads and all i want is AWD in case of snow or if a road gets blocked and I have to go around it in soft ground. The pirellis were fine for that.

The first thing people should do is look at what their usual driving is and plan around that. AT tires are heavier and cost more both to buy and run. Is it worth it?

Each person’s situation is different. If I was a contractor and planned to drive the Maverick 20k miles per year for work and go to undeveloped job sites / job sites in development, and haul supplies, I would leave it at stock height and use the stock tire size, but upgrade to a 3pmsf off-road AT tire. That way if the cv’s fail after 2.5 year and 50k miles, I’d be covered under warranty, no questions asked.

But that is not my situation. My maverick is for pleasure only: 3k miles per year, going tent camping, wilderness trekking, mountain biking and pulling a camp trailer. I have a 2 inch lift kit and 255/65R17 tires. If my CV’s go bad after 7 years and 21k miles, I’ll just replace them, hopefully with stronger aftermarket ones.

Take a look at the Nokian APT. Mild AT tire with sideway protection, designed for mostly on road use. 3pms, from a winter tire company. I have the full AT version, the NaT.

Or the new Nokian Remedy WRG5.

I don’t own a trailer, but I have rented a couple of 17 foot camp trailers (~3,000 lbs) and a 14 foot “no boundaries” toy hauler / camp trailer 1760 lbs) from RVshare and from RVezy. It’s cheaper for me to rent, because I don’t camp that often and I live in a neighborhood that restricts RV parking and where I live, RV parking costs $150 /month.

Just FYI I found them the cheapest at walmart. Around $194 each. That was for size 245/60R18
