I would hope any computer which controls throttle, braking, or steering is air gaped. As soon as you plug anything in the ODBll port which exchanges data with a computer or smartphone is no longer air gapped. The odds some hacker will take control of your Maverick are slim. Are you willing to take that change.

Plugging in local (not networked) devices, there is zero chance.

Y'all are getting way to conspiracy theorist about this. In this case the issue isn't about data ownership or hacking, it's that a poorly engineered/built device could easily fry a circuit in the truck, especially if the device is left permanently connected (OBD was designed for intermittent use, not 100% duty cycle ). In reality *most* devices will be fine, but there are also numerous documented examples of bad OBD devices killing a vehicle's computer.
If you've ever watched Big Clive on YouTube as he reverse engineers cheap electronic devices, you'd be nervous about plugging in anything from Temu, eBay or even Amazon...

All this information now makes me leary upon putting in my bafx obd11 when I needed to access any code that may appear, if in fact it does, which I hope it wouldn't. I have used this device off and on for about 4 years in cars lexus, dodge caravan, and mercedes of course they were 2006 and 2008. I use any just for code diagnosing not as a monitor system.

I have been using my cell phone with Torque app. I read really good reviews about it before buying it and lots of guys using it on the forums over the years.

Do you think i will be ok in the future.

It would be very rare for an OBDII reader to interfere with the car or truck.

The most common problem would be a slow 12v battery drain if you leave it connected over night and it did not turn off over night.

I've used ScanGauge Model 1, 2, and 3 in all my vehicles, never had an issue.

When I tow I use a scangauge II to monitor my charge voltage and transmission and engine temp. Worked for three years in my Bronco Sport's OBD connector. Haven't tried it yet in my Maverick but now I'm going to.

I love mine, Has all I need for the past 3 cars and will go onto my Mav too.

Rare but not impossible. The OTC (Bosch) scanner I have at work developed a tendency to sometimes crash the CANBUS network when it handshakes on connect with Fords forcing a reboot of at least the IPC/ABS/ACIM. I've never tested what this would do while running/driving. Mostly annoying since it means I can't use it to check status before state inspection as it will set a bunch of CELs.

Just tried my Scangauge II in the port. Works fine and uses the same set up codes as the Sport.

It's been plugged in for a month and a half now. No problems. Same set up and codes as the Bronco Sport.
