Have you considered an F150? A 2.7 Eb or 5.0 will equal a Ranger in fuel economy, of course price of entry will be a good bit higher.

40k for the pro but order banks are closed on those. The 2023 ranger just another year of the current ranger opens on the 18th this month.

The 2 worst motorized vehicles you can invest in are a boat & a snowmobile, I would skip or sell the boat & buy a better equipped Maverick.

I plan on purchasing an Alweld aluminum boat, which is about 1100 or so pounds before all the extra add ons and the motor. I estimate maybe 1600 or 1700 max weight... So i figured the Mav with the 4k package would be enough... I do want the 360 ford, which the ranger doesnt have.
Wait - what , You can't get 360 with the Ranger ? Love the 360 - All drivers in Utah strive to be in someone's blind spot. Ridiculous -)
Ranger should have some sort of tech package - it isn't named the same, but should have similar (actually likely better) features. Source - my 2019 Ranger had a $1K tech package, which included adaptive cruise, BLIS, cross traffic and backup sensors.

On the OP's topic - having owned both, the Maverick is absolutely the better overall vehicle to drive every day. Literally the only reason to get a Ranger is towing above 4K. Otherwise save your money and enjoy a better ride every day.

If you’re expecting to only tow around 1700lbs you would be fine with even a hybrid. If it were me though, I would still go with 4k because I’ve seen few boat launches that weren’t slick as snot.

Were you only looking at the XL build/price? Not sure what you're referencing here.

I just checked, and Adaptive Cruise is still only available with a $995 tech package which can only be added with certain options for an XLT or Lariat Ranger.

Honestly at that towing weight, I would go maverick. It's cheaper, more fuel efficient, easier to live with in tight places, and a newer design (the current gen ranger has been produced since 2011 overseas).

What makes you interested in the Ranger?

I had planned on buying a Ranger until I test-drove a Maverick. The ride and handling are much better in the Mav and it's also easier to enter which my wife really likes. I don't need to haul or tow much so that isn't an issue. The Mav also has more interior room and the price is the final nail in the Ranger's coffin.
