So, after a long NYE and giving all my kids a name that includes Maverick, we decided we needed to translate one or more of them to Spanish and came up with multiple options for this. My question to you is which one applies?

inconformista
rebelde
disidente
un in conformists
francotirador
Orejano

It seems no one here knows which one applies to our truck, so reaching out for some more informed advice.

Thanks for your response and happy new year.

I don't speak Spanish, but I'm thinking orejano is probably the best match from the words listed.

It means a brandless animal, usually referring to cattle.

According to Wikipedia,
"A maverick is an animal, usually a form of cattle, that does not carry a brand. It is a word also used to describe a person who acts free from constraints or organizational guidelines."

As someone who really enjoys language, I found your question an interesting challenge! In your list, I think the first two apply the most. But, how about ... Pionero or Pioneer, in the sense of a blazer of new trails or an inventor of new technologies. I wanted to come up with a suggestion that could really be used for a vehicle as well.

If you generate a list of synoyms for Maverick, then generate synoyms to those options, then jump to Spanish, you might get some other possibilities as well.

Happy New Year!

I once read long ago that GM pushing the Chevy Nova in certain Central America countries. Not selling. So sent team down to figure why not selling.

They came back, telling the brass need to change name. It seems that in some cases, certain areas, the “Nova” name to some means “it doesn’t go”. Well, draw your own conclusions….
