I would like to know if anyone has installed or had a tachometer installed in their Hybrid Maverick. How's it working and cost.
I would like a tach but no clue how to wire the thing.

What do you want to use the tach for? I've driven manuals for a long time, with the eCVT is it helpful in any way?

What information would you receive? If the tach was at 13k rpm from 15-45mph is it really relevant? It's not like a regular transmission car where you can get better MPG by staying in lower RPMs/higher gears because the engine is always in the most optimal gear. That sort of driving with a regular transmission makes the tach relevant.

Some people just like to have it lol. It's kinda like how I'd like to see the battery charge level Prius style but can't. There's nothing wrong with having the tach, it's kinda like saying why have a regular speedometer when you can see it in the middle screen digitally.

I would love to have tachometers on both engine AND MG2 (starter) to learn about the eCVT gearing. Funny: The MG2 tach would need a direction indicator (+/-) too!

you will need a power and ground, then run a sensor wire under the hood. back in the day the wire would go to the coil. I bet there are other ways to do it now. A little googling would tell.

Forscan Lite can display values from all those PIDS - Engine, Motor, Generator RPM's. And indeed negative when Motor is recharging, or Generator is doing whatever it's doing with gearing, recharging, or feeding the Motor.
From a log file, that was of course displayed on phone.

I added a gauge through the OBD-II connector. It is compatable with hybrids and has loads of screens and values that can be displayed as well as code reader. Actually looks nice on the dash just rear of the side window air vent. $60 at Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08GYLXJ1V

I tend to leave it on Tac main and engine temp on one of the corners. I like having another screen dedicated for various engine readings as many if not most of the time, the other screens are displaying more interactive things.

Arguably, it may not be needed but having specific reading available without digging for it is nice, especially while driving.

get it into Engineering mode before you start and it will display the Tach. With the ECVT the Tach doesn't move much, quite boring.

Has this worked on your Hybrid? I had a similar device and when the truck went into Hybrid mode, the monitor would shut off. I wrote the company and said "you need the display to display in green "HYBRID MODE" when it does that but not shut off.

It does shut down after 5 seconds of electric...then powers up immediately. While not perfect, it is fast enough cycling back on so as not to be too objectionable. I have thought about running through the setting to try to eliminate this cycling, but have yet to get a "roundtoit". So many roundtoits...

I only have a few hundred miles on the truck and still so much to learn...Carplay secrets is my current focus.

Did it create a profile by showing you a VIN and confirming a Yr/Make/Model/engine type/tranny?
Something specific to know it was a Ford hybrid or better a Maverick?

I'd hope like scanner apps on phones, it can do a software update to include more info so it knows what's available and correct values.

Because that does look slick, and being a scanner the extra DTC and resets and freeze frame data could be useful. Though it might be interesting to use depending on the GUI created.

Not sure about this placement! 🤔
