Hello everyone, I have a 2025 maverick hybrid AWD. The rear end started making some noises like CLUNK when the truck was coming to a stop. When I turn off the traction control it goes away. My dealer spoke to the Ford hot line and they suggested to replace the rear end unit. They did replace it and the issue went away with the new unit but the issue came back once again after 5,000 miles. Does any one have the same issue with the CLUNKC NOISE.

That is your all-wheel drive re-engaging the rear drive shaft.

Maybe your PTU or RDU are low on fluid?

Its a physical driveshaft that connects to the rear. Just like when you put a normal 4x4 truck into 4 wheel drive you get a clunk. So when the AWD engages it can make a clunk.

It’s a phenomenon for about 25 percent of the Mavs that were polled in a post a few months ago, mine does it. I guess time will tell if it’s something that’ll be problematic down the road or not. Plenty of people have this issue though. Or maybe it isn’t an issue, who knows.

"Maverick123" got me thinking about what is normal or acceptable when it comes to the rear drive shaft engaging and disengaging.
"Mox4615 mentioned a poll.

Here is the clunking Poll.
