Hi everyone! Im new to the group and would like some advice. I just got a call yesterday saying a customer order didn’t go through for a maverick hybrid XTL with luxury package. The hybrids are extremely hard to get right now. They are doing a 4k markup! Do you think it’s worth the mark up or should I just wait it out? I just don’t know if I want this opportunity to slip since I don’t know when I will be able to get a hold on another hybrid. So my question is would you pay the 4k mark up or is that just crazy talk?! Lol thanks!

Whether or not 4k is crazy is totally dependent on the person and their financial situation, need for a new vehicle, etc.

4k on an XLT isn’t as bad as some of the other horror stories we’ve heard about dealers but it’s not nothing. Eye of the beholder.

There are numerous stories of $10k+.

I would look at the deal closely though. Is there any other dealer profit imbedded in there at your expense? If you really want an XLT you either do this one, shop around or sign up on August 5 and get in line with 1,000's of others for a '23. Some of that $4k though will go towards a sure markup next year.

I took one refused by original person. Paid MSRP. Your dealer (In my opinion) should be tarred and feathered and run out of town on a rail. Money just sitting there to pay, then take the Mav. Don't screw up your finances. Either way, it's a great truck.

See if they throw in some extra stuff like oil changes, or a few of the extra after add-ons like if it doesn’t have it like tonneau cover, rack or other things. It’s worth a shot.

Depends on your situation (need) and your willingness to part with money for no obvious reason (want).

It’s not so much of an opportunity, like the dealer is making it. If you get on the phone and hunted one, you can find them with dealership markup. They are out there.

Like others have posted, see how motivated the dealership is to sell and try to negotiate down. See what they will give you to make it more reasonable. Good luck!

I paid about $4k over MSRP for my XLT EB after the original customer declined the order. They had a $10k markup on a supplemental window sticker, so I felt like I accomplished something in getting them to come down in price. It certainly wasn't a great deal, but it was one I could live with under the circumstances.

If you really need a new truck like I did and the specifications of the truck match what you're looking for, I would jump on it before someone else does. Like another poster stated, do your best to negotiate it down further. With the price of gas being what it is, if you're not an off-road guy, a Hybrid is a good way to go. Good luck!

That's what I was thinking too, grab it before someone else does. I'm def. not an off-road guy, I just like the utility of having a truck bed. I def. I don't need it, but more of a want. I have a Santa Cruz I just bought turbo with AWD but really miss my old hybrid especially with gas prices going up... ugh idk... lol

^ Exactly. With inflation in the macro economy and the overall popularity of the Maverick, you can just about bet your next paycheck that the MY 2023 Mavericks will be priced higher than the 2022 MY.... how much higher remains to be seen.

I hear you and thank you for the reply. In this market, I'm not sure how motivated they are to negotiate especially since it's a desirable car. If I don't take it someone else will and they know that. Unfortunately, the ball is on their court in this stupid market.
