Got a F-150 from Lowe's and it had start-stop. Very annoying in a gas engine. Come to a light, shuts off, starts up 5 seconds later because the AC stopped and the cabin started heating up past the temperature limit.

Start-Stop really only works in a hybrid setup, IMO.
My only beef is lack of control. IIRC they can't let you turn off auto start stop permanently because of emissions requirements.

My experience with other Fords is that their system is very aggressive and even in 110 degree heat here in Phoenix, if the inside temperature wasn't set to LO or the system set to MAX the engine still shuts off and leaves you with stale gym-sock smelling air for a period of time.
That doesn't sound good. I guess it'll be a while before we know how well the Maverick EcoBoost does on this issue. (Mine is a hybrid like yours, so I'm not a good test.)

There should be tons of them on the road this summer. I hope some of those EB folks will give us an update on how it actually works in practice.

My guess, though, is that it will work pretty well. If not, there's going to be some really mad people down here in Arizona when the temps get over 110 degrees.
I think it depends on how easily one can get used to it.

I rented two F-150s that I drove for a few thousand miles each. Overall I think the system worked as it was probably anticipated to do. I didn't take any measurements, but Eco mode was noticeably more aggressive with the auto start stop and the cabin would warm up a bit more before the engine started back up.

In Normal mode, I felt that the cabin temperature didn't get too warm/cold before the engine restarted. If you're the type that likes significantly warmer or cooler air constantly circulating or blowing, I'd see how it could get annoying when the engine shuts off.

I thought it was annoying at first as well, but it took me maybe a few hundred miles of driving to anticipate when it might turn off. After that it became background noise.

On the F-150s I rented, the auto start stop only kicks in if you push the brake pedal about halfway down. If I knew I was only going to be stopped momentarily, I'd hold the brake down just enough to not make the truck creep forward.

I have a hybrid so the auto stop/start shouldn't annoy me as hell as it does on my wife's car.

I am curious about one thing, in my's Acura I if I put the car in part the engine turns back on at idle.

In the Acura, the auto start/stop disables when the car is in Park. So I pull into a parking space and stop the car turns off then turns back on when I put the car in park. At least the car is smart enough to put itself into park when my wife turns it off without putting it in park.

So, my question is does the Maverick stay running at idle in park?

Don't have my Maverick yet, but I do have a Fusion hybrid. The ICE does not run while the vehicle is in PARK unless the high-voltage battery is low. I would assume that the Maverick works the same way.

I'm also assuming that the Maverick hybrid will be similar to our Cmax hybrid...electric a/c compressor and engine coolant heater. Our plug in hybrid Cmax had an electric element in the heater to provide heat if the car was in EV mode.
