🤓 You know, it’s really all personal choice. I changed mine out for those fender lights for a little extra visibility on the side, it’s just a matter of wiring the passenger side right so it works. I also painted the center white to match the truck to get rid of the stripes that were in there.

That looks great, and is certainly an option to consider…
but…

why is the vent there? To vent what?

Aesthetics, design accents
Keeping within the corporate look of the larger Ranger and F series fender vents.
A lot like GM did with Buick and their fender vents.

Theoretically, open vents could improve air flow through the engine compartment, and let out waste heat from the engine. A cooler engine is more efficient. But obviously Ford didn't think vents were needed, so making them open may not help at all. They're just a styling gimmick. Look at a Toyota Corolla or Camry these days. They're loaded with all kinds of ridiculous fake vents.

I think the hybrids already have a problem staying at operating temperature (to maintain peak fuel effiency), so extra cooling wouldnt help.

Hello and welcome, there are a lot of great ideas on what you can do with the Fender Vents. I took the Factory ones and modified them. I put an Amber light in mine that flashes when you lock/unlock your truck and they also works as a turn signal.

Hello and Welcome, there are a lot of great ideas on what you can do with the Fender Vents, it's your imagination. I took my Factory ones off color matched the paint and installed an Amber LED Light. The light flashes when you lock/unlock the truck and they also work as turn signal indicator. I like them. Best of luck and have fun
