Does anyone have any idea how hard it is to put missing chips in vehicles? That could really slow down installation. My experience is that auto manufacturers put expendable parts in the hardest to get to places. Examples include, Chevy Monza V8 spark plug replacement (drill a hole in the wheel well) and the Ford F250 fuel pump replacement (cab off required -I never personally encountered this one, but understand it to be an issue on some years), and the heater core replacement on 90% of vehicles.

Most times the "chips" that are missing are part of a module that just bolts into place and has an electrical connection plugged into it. Whether it's in the engine compartment, under the dash, under the front seats, or behind the back seats depends on the module.

Most likely it still runs and is waiting on something not affecting its ability to move on its own power.

Mine has been in production since 12/9 and the modules still do not show to be activated. I doubt it is in a condition to be started yet.

That's what I thought. They are sitting in a parking lot in Mexico waiting on chips.

Wonder if the chips are for one of the optional items?
Might be for one of the 200 computers you'd find in all cars nowadays.

Guessing my build may be in the same boat. Blend date of 11/29. Actual in production date of 12/7. Silence since. Only thing that has changed is date on bottom of window sticker page has now changed from 12/6 to 12/14 yesterday’s date.

Is that 01/22 ETA for the chips or delivery of your Maverick?

How do you know if the modules are active? Mine came up with one letter under PCE “G”
There will be a long row of data when built.

If they were active you would have a whole slew of data that would show up below the header that would seem like they go on forever.

That is the "grey" area. When the Bronco Sports had a chip shortage in June of this year, everyone who had one on order that was built and awaiting the Restraint Control Module (mine was one of them) received an updated ETA of 12/03. I ordered my BS/BL in March of this year and just took delivery of it this past Thursday - BTW.

I would bet they were driven off the end of the assembly line. Ford knows better than anyone how to bypass a missing module. They probably loaded the engine and other required modules using a manual off-line system rather than their automated production system which also stores the values to their central database..

I've been working in a plant when the engines would not start at the end of the final assembly line. Creates a big problem. Workers pushing the vehicles out of the way.
