It is not the metal bracket, but rather the plastic trim that covers the slide mechanism. I have taken it to the dealership going on round six. It has come back barely functioning every time.
Ok, to clarify - it is this plastic cover, right? And what is wrong with it? Does the slide not function? Does the cover have a gap? It sounds like the seat belt works correctly, but there is a cosmetic issue with the cover. Not mechanical. Not likely to get lemon law'd. Just find a different dealership and have them fix it, unless you hate your truck and want to get rid of it. Then see what you can get on trade/sale.
(and unless you trade often with a different height driver, this is something that gets moved once and that's it. Can't remember touching mine more than once)

Correct. The trim pieces are not holding the slider in place correctly. It has simething to do with the covers for the B-pillar.

My wife and I trade cars often and we need to move the belt down so she doesn't get choked. The adjuster works maybe half the time and pops out and gets stuck the other half. For us and our use it is a safety issue and a big deal. If we only drove a single vehichle it probably would not matter. It is just crazy because I used to do car stereos and I don't see how a few pieces of trim could either be so poorly designed or the dealership be so incompetant where this is an issue.

And the truth comes out. Go buy another Frontier.
I got a Ford in the hope I could buy an American vehicle, and realistically I might trade it in and eat the loss to get another Frontier. I had zero problems with that truck outside of a CV joint. Yes, so far I am not super impressed and I don't know why you are defensive about it. I am going to heed everyones advice and try one more dealership even though it is a trek (once again I should not have to IMO).

Lol. Sorry. I like my Mav but this has been a cluster so far. It is the seat belt adjuster. It was busted when I purchased it and I did not notice. Took it back the same day. It has now been in and out of the dealership going on the sixth time.

They cannot get the plastic piece tight enough to consistently engage the slider. No clue why it is such a mess or so hard. I just want to wash my hands of it at this point.

How are the lawyers free? Just curious.
Hard to believe you want to bail because of a seat belt adjuster.... Spend $20 at a wrecking yard??? Your call, of course, but it seems like you are throwing away a new pair of hiking boots because a lace broke.

Fair point. I think I am just so over the dealership it has jaded me on the truck. I will give it a true shake once I can finally get it fixed properly. I enjoy driving it. I think the thing that surprised me most is corporate Ford can't even get in touch with the dealership to do anything about it. What a bad model IMO. I guess that is all car companies though.

Personally I won't shed a tear if the dealership model goes away. I don't beleive for a second that if you have that strong of a lobby you are doing anything good for society. Good and fair business models don't need an insane lobby group.

This thread is pure gold! I love dramas like this. It reminds me of watching a reality tv show where you have that one girl that is dumb, arrogant and petty, and is always stirring up shit with everyone around her.

That is a condescending attitude. I am not trying to stir anything. I am sorry I have standards and expect my new vehicle to be a new vehicle. I am very happy that you Maverick is great and works well for you. I am sure it is because you are a kind, wonderful human.

And yes, that last part was to stir the pot. Why respond with that kind of nonsense. It adds zero to my situation, but whatever makes you feel like a big boy I guess.

So actual update to wrap up my story. Got my truck back today. Still not fixed correctly. The adjuster is a little better but they skipped a bunch trim clips. Overall lazy and not like new. It will go in again Monday. Ford is working on a buyback after I called and said enough. I will give them next week then lawyers will come in.

Corporate Ford did say if I took it to another dealership I am on the hook for the diagnostic fee since they are only willing to pay one per issue. I am not throwing good money after bad with this mess.

I was legitimately asking for ideas and I appreciate the real advice. I will continue to persue a repair and a buyback since neither avenue is resolved yet. Thank you to everyone who had constructive ideas.

Because you only have 1 issue with your current truck, a misaligned trim piece.

I genuinely mean you should get out of it now because you aren’t going to become enamored with or even appreciate the maverick going forward.
