I'm sure that's what it is, a guy standing on the line with a rattle can.

I just picked up my oval kit. I think they're going to look great with the XLT gray grill insert and my carbonized gray tailgate letters. More to come this weekend.

And they don't just look lightly coated with VHT spray tint at all!

Looks good man... can't wait to see them on the truck. I'm also thinking of some grill mods, I'm looking forward to seeing that too. Good luck with the installation!

Just wondering if anyone out there has tackled the installation of the new-ish Maverick Black Oval Kit from Ford: https://www.ford.com/product/maverick-black-oval-kit-p4000207161

I really would like to put this on my 24 Tremor - the emblems are black, but have bright chrome not smoked chrome around the edges. Not a huge deal, but I think this will match the truck a little better. Watched YouTube video from @Redneck Garage that showed how to do it without removing the bumper cover, etc. but looking to see if anyone has tried this specific mod that replaces one in the front and in the rear. Assuming that you can easily get to the one in the back via the tailgate service panel and it should be pretty easy to do that one, but haven't tried it yet either.

Let me know - mainly worried about breaking the clips on the grill bar and also hoping to see how it looks on a truck someone has already done.

Thanks!
The installation was pretty easy. The instructions require you to pull off the front bumper but you don't have to. I just followed the instructions from Redneck Garage.

I am considering changing the Mavreezy's name to 'Lariat Ultimate' (ala Denali Ultimate). ☠💀☠

Looks good and thank you for the tip about redneck garage. I've found his videos helpful in the past and this one will help me with my grill mod, if I ever get around to it. Here's the link...

Anytime. Good luck with the installation.

One thing I forgot to mention, DO NOT forget to interchange the backup camera from the tailgate emblems. The camera in the black tailgate emblem does not display the trajectory lines when you put the vehicle in reverse.

The trajectory lines aren't a function of the camera. They are overlaid on the camera's image by the display system. The new camera has to be calibrated to pair it with the system after installation with Forscan in order for that to work. If you do the calibration, you don't have to swap the cameras.

I installed the ovals and calibrated the new camera over the weekend. Redneck Garage's video instructions are good, but be patient. The 11 screws on the back of the grill that attach the upper shroud and all those tabs that hold the grill bar on are tedious to remove. The shroud has 16 7mm screws in total--5 along the top and 11 down between the grill and shutters.

I'll add pictures soon.

I hear what you are saying, but why go to the trouble of going through Forscan to do the calibration when you can just switch out the cameras and call it a wrap. Just saying...

Because it literally takes 1 minute to do with Forscan, and you don't risk any damage to the camera or oval swapping them over. My point was to explain that stating "the camera in the black tailgate emblem does not display the trajectory lines" is not exactly true. In actuality, neither camera displays trajectory lines.

I could ask a similar question, "Why go to the trouble of swapping the cameras when you can so easily calibrate the new camera with Forscan?"

I never stated that swapping the cameras was the wrong approach. You now have been provided two solutions to the issue, use the one you're most comfortable with.

Again, I hear what you are saying and I don't disagree with you. But what if you don't have Forscan or the skills and/or experience to do it yourself? A Ford dealership or an independant shop could do it, but it won't be cheap. That's even if they want to do it. Some dealerships will gladly take your money to do it (most likely $200 to $300 on up) and some will avoid it entirely as to not mess up anything. To each his own.

Options are always a good thing! I'm sure the OP appreciates everyone's different approach to his concern about installing the black oval kit.

Then you swap the cameras.

I didn't even think about swapping the cameras when I did it, because Forscan is second nature to me. I understand that's not the case for everyone.

As far as I'm concerned, these are the two options, both effective. Nobody should be paying a dealership to calibrate the camera if they can avoid it.
