My son cracked the 3D printed lid. I contacted the guy who made the trash can for me. Asked him to make it beefier and please send me another one. He obliged and I sent him PayPal. One of em messed up so he printed and sent 2 of them. The one that was messed up I experimented with it.

I sanded the 3d print lines smooth. Added autobody filler to the little voids, and applied an aircraft epoxy primer with a small amount of MEK added to get it to bind with the plastic. Once dry, I sanded it smooth with 320 grit sandpaper, and sprayed it with rustoleum dark navy blue. I feel that this is as close to factory interior color as you will get with an off the shelf rattle can paint. I will give it a few days to thoroughly dry before snapping it in place since rustoleum though a good paint, has a tendency stay slightly tacky, and takes a while to completely dry. Last pic you can see a test piece against my interior.

Got the mount brackets for the fender vent turn signal lights done, and primered. Need to paint them black assemble and wire this up, then draw this project to a close soon.

Well the modded fender vents are done. Now all that remains is the installation and wiring. Probably will happen this coming friday. Too much other stuff to do around the house before I can play with my junque.

What is behind the vent on the truck? Body colored metal or a cutout with the primer color? I don’t have my truck yet to look.

Body colored metal but with a large access hole to the front engine compartment where you can wire up to your front turn signals. Ridiculously easy to get to.

This thread is meant to chronicle the accessories I purchased for my Maverick, as well as the prices for each item, and ease of assembly or install. Also any items I may have fabricated. I am doing this because theres some folks on the forum who are not very mechanically inclined. The aim is to also show that a lot of this stuff is not very hard to do even for those who are not mechanically inclined.

Myself, I am a mechanic, and have been fixing, modifying, and fabricating things since my teens. I am 54. I am in the aviation industry as a sheetmetal structural repair technician, and also teach sheetmetal repair. I want to make each post geared towards the novice on the truck club who is not very mechanically inclined. For those of you who are mechanical you will probably appreciate the prices and where I got each item, or the method of fabrication. Theres lots to come. I have had this truck only 2 days.

Comments: Great cover so far. Not that hard of an installation process, but having a hand helps at the mounting point. I did have a heavy rain and more water got in than I anticipated. Hoping the seal I added below will assist with this issue. Advice?

BedRug Full Bedliner

Was surprised how hard it was to install to stop the carpet from bunching up at the bed/gate seam. I added small grab handles at that point to pull up if that section of liner flattens out and stops the gate from closing. More places to add Velcro would be my recommendation. Otherwise, a great addition! Not sure how best to cut out or leave an opening for the right-hand storage cubby. Cut a 3-sided hole and Velcro strap to open/close.

It arrived with the warped bracket section and inside edge. Decide to mount anyway. And yes, as stated online here the second from right bracket section requires to be drilled to fit. I was hoped they had made this fix by this time, and the number of complaints. No instructions on the small rubber guards included by found recommendations online. Placed them to the deflector and the not the body of the truck. Looks great so far and no sound/vibration issues yet.

Well, I thought this would be great. It has issues. Required adding an extra small L-shaped bracket with double-sided tape in the front to keep it in place. The tape provided was just not reliable. Also, the phone holder rattles unless it has a phone. Put a small dampener to stop that. Also, the phone holder takes a lot of tweaking to stay put in a desirable angle.

Currently digging up my yard chasing a water leak for the last 5 days. Finally isolated it to being somewhere from the water meter in the alley to the shutoff valve i installed at the house. House is tight. With house shut off, meter is still clicking away. Been digging through 24" of solid packed clay. I have 19 more feet to dig to get to the meter today. City says its 1/4 gallon a minute leak. That's a lot!! No wet spots in the yard. So as far as the lights install goes, it's probably gonna be awhile.
