I should start by saying besides my Maverick, I have a Ram with a Tri-fold cover. The Maverick is more of a grocery hauler so I don't really need the convenience of a tri-fold. Anyway, the cover is basically a sheet of 1/4 ply glued to a sheet of 1/2" ply that is approx 2" smaller all the way around so only the 1/4" ply sits on the bed sides. I used Oak at the back for strength and also at the front where the hinge is. So, add a couple gas shocks and for around $350 (CAD) I'm good to go.

I ran the material continuous right over the piano hinge so no water gets through. The material does bunch up a little when the cover is raised, but returns to normal when its down, which is 99% of the time. Seems to be dry after a rain, held up to a hail storm as well.

Couple things I still want to do is work on some drain tubes to get rid of the water close to the cab rear window so that it does not just collect there. The other is to add a couple aluminum stiffeners on the underside. The cover as is, is strong but considering its made of wood I don't want it to eventually sag.
Otherwise I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Excellent job! The low profile is impressive too.

My first thought was, "Wow how is he gonna seal it?" then I saw the vinyl cover... great simple design/choice. Love it.

That looks fantastic! WAY better than the installed hard rolling factory Tonneau that I bought from Ford. It was cut too short so near the tailgate was constantly wet.

Dealer tried to fix it but it didn’t work. I took it back for the second time and now it’s too short near the body. Oh, and it was $1300.00!

You need to give Ford a lesson! Your fit is awesome!

Sorry to hear your cover's not working out. There really is no reason for it. Just poor quality control IMO. Even the vehicle itself only has so-so quality fit and finish, again IMO. Thanks for the great review.

Holy crap. It's always the wood workers that come out with the most impressive stuff. (Not to dismiss the metal workers of course)

This is amazing content. And I bet it seals better than 90% of aftermarket tonneau cover products :ROFLMAO:

I'll be biting a small learning curve off when I remove the back seat to build a custom flat setup, and since it has to be on hinges due to the under seat storage not being removeable, I feel I've already bit off more than I can chew lol. But I'm going to attempt it.

What I'm trying to say is I find this stuff seriously inspiring. Again, well done!
