Your tailgate looks great the way it is. The shadow incognito look is so much better than the in your face lettering everyone else seems to need to stick on there. Also, the cover for your 4 pin receptacle looks good. That was our first accessory we added. So many Mavericks I see are lacking that and they look like something fell off, which in reality did (Ford left it off).

what company did you order that bumper cover from?

I concur obout theblack lettering, but the best way is get a black piece of cardboard, cut a letter out of it and set it against your tailgate...you should find that the black letters look great! But the eye test is to make sure is good and you are happy.

I'm mostly over Chrome embellishments as well. Just thought it may go with the chromed emblem if that was your thing.


EG + bronze/copper/gold so good.

I see a couple EG Mavs around town / in my neighborhood. And I really want EG. :_)
(But, I know my VB + Black does me good too. )
My first Chev K1500 Silverado was a "Forest Green", that kinda grew me onto 'Green' vehicles. (But, EG is a lot better than most IMO.)
I have an old crush on 'Blue', Subaru Rally Blue hooked me, Ford's too I suppose.

Admittedly Blacks and [dark] grays are great too, esp for the subtle, 'don't look at me, you see nothing' approach. There is always bound to be another, brighter, red/orange/yellow car to draw attention away from those drab black n grays. So stealthy.

It's actually a factory cover for a truck with no hitch that was modified. Guy has sold hundreds of them here.

Mabett makes an aftermarket copy, but easy to see that they are not made from factory covers.

Do you or anyone else here happen to have a listing for the cover from this person? I like that it matches the bumper.

Im on that same boat, I would love to add them to mine but I'm afraid I'd mess it up trying to install them.

Fill a spray bottle and put in 1 or 2 drops of dish soap in the water, spray the area of the tailgate you want to letter with the soapy water, peel off the backing on the letters to reveal the adhesive and then press them on while it's wet. The soapy water will allow you to reposition them for a little bit, get them centered and hold them in place for 30 seconds or so until they stick. VERY hard to mess this up.

Thanks for the input, I used to do that when I would replace the long decals on John Deere hoods, and never thought about doing it with the lettering

I couldn't find the Facebook person who we bought it from, but you can get the OEM part here on eBay and do your own cutting with a Dremel tool:

Your's has a knock out made for the 7 pin receptacle. Ours was made solely for the 4 pin.
