Received my new Mabett rear wheel liner mud guards. Won't get to put them on until early August. But this is what they look like for those interested.

Get yourself a 7 mm box wrench/combination wrench for those bottom rear screws. The tool they gave is fine, but this will make it much easier.

THANKS. I'll just use a ratchet with 7mm socket.

It’s been a few days, when are these going to be available again?

Shipping a batch from China takes time. I'd guess probably a couple weeks. Should sell out quickly again.

I see pros and cons to these. On one hand, the rocker has good drainage in this area and can easily be inspected and flushed when needed. On the other, these should block most mud and solids from getting in there, but only if they're well sealed. Once installed, you lose your ability to easily inspect the area without destroying the adhesive.

The adhesive is going to be especially important. I would get the area spotlessly clean with soap, then alcohol, then use the adhesive promoter. I know it should be common sense but the instructions should suggest cleaning the wheel liner.

My concern is when driving in winter it would be a constant salt spray bath as it is directly in line with the tire spray. Those corners will rot out quickly without these. Mine will probably never get any mud there. I don't drive off road.

I have to deal with saline here too, but not like Chicago. I would still rather be able to flush the area well if it's not going to be completely sealed.

You still can get a hose in there from underneath, but there shouldn't be much in there with these in place. It would not be easy for spray from the front wheels to get up to that spot.

Sure. My point of view is, salt water is going to get in there regardless. It will get past the gap where there's no adhesive at the top. I don't know that a little salt water is a lot better than a lot of salt water if it drains and can be flushed easily. I've never really had corrosion issues because I'm diligent about flushing everything when needed, and I keep my garage warm enough that I don't have a problem with salty snow or ice sitting in there. For blocking solids or semi-solids like rocks and mud from plugging the drains, I could see where these would be more beneficial.

I like mods that are easy to install. These were very easy to install, and fitment looked really good.

Thanks for all related posts. Good viewpoints. I ordered my set yesterday in preparation for my Maverick that is scheduled to be built in August. The wait continues...

I'd spray the inside of the rocker liberally with Fluid Film (or similar) then add the mud guard. Road salt spray might still get in there, but at least it won't have any effect on the protected metal
