I know the lug nut thread size on the Maverick is m14 x 1.5

My question is when I replace my wheels on my Maverick Xl, do I buy:

Acorn Chrome Lug Nuts
or
“Bulge” Acorn Chrome Lug Nuts

Are the lug nuts on the Maverick Acorn or Bulge Acorn?

Thank you in advance.

Are you upgrading to other Maverick/Ford wheels or aftermarket? In the case of the former either should work.

If they're aftermarket wheels it'll depend on the lug recess size. Some can be extraordinarily tight for fitting M14 lugs. I ended up needing to find about as narrow as I could for mine after the McGard's I originally ordered were a whole 0.015" too large.

I’m adding the Ford Bronco Sport wheels.

For Gorilla lugs (confirmed with stock Lariat wheels):

Black: 61148BCX. Chrome: 61148CX.

They are the same as I had on my F-150.

You are correct. I emailed Gorilla today and they gave me the same information for the chrome lug nuts. 61148CX It should be noted the length of the lugs nuts are 1.62 inches. ( I might be wrong, but I think the OEM lug nuts are 1.35 inches.)

Wheel locks chrome are 96641DX chrome.

Yes, they are a little longer than the stock lugs. I think they look fine.

I haven't gotten my Maverick yet but when I got new wheels and tires at Tire Rack, Gorilla lug nuts are what they used. I was very happy as they didn't swell as the standard Ford acorn lug nuts commonly did.

Adding my two cents to the lug nut debate:

I bought these on eBay

One-piece design, black electroplated finish (not paint, not powder, something different). Also available in chrome if that’s your jam.

I made the switch to one-piece lug nuts for two reasons:

• dudes on this board seem to think stock 2-pc. Lugs are doo doo
• chrome lugs on gloss black XLT alloy wheels look janky IMO

Only downside:

22mm/7/8” size doesn’t fit stock lug wrench that comes with your rig.

Solution: 1/2-drive 22mm socket with breaker bar under the seat

Boom.

@Darnon , what did you end up using? I'm running into the situation where my aftermarket wheels have a hole diameter of something like 14.8mm. All the standard acorn style don't even seem to recess into the hole at all. Did you find something narrow enough to make you feel confident?

I got a set of Bimecc lug nuts. However in my case the issue was with the wheels having minimal clearance for a socket that'd fit into the pockets, not the taper bearing surface being too little as you're experiencing. Personally, I'd probably just take a taper bit of the appropriate angle and open them up until ID matches the minimum OD of the lug nuts.

That is what I am starting to lean towards. I have found a scant amount of 60 degree reaming/tapering/blah blah blah bits available online. Most seem to be focused on more common things like 45, 30, etc... None explicitly say they will work on metal. Unless I want to buy a $300-$1,000 CNC quality bit. There is one I might buy just to see what happens when I take it to one of the holes on one of the wheels. Sort of freaks me out to do it myself, but also don't want to pay someone to do it for me. Haha.
