I have a soft tonneau cover on my bed which means that every time something wound up in the front of the bed, I was SOL unless I rolled up the cover. I thought I finally had my million dollar idea, but as usual Amazon proved me wrong. This thing is awesome and just what I was looking for. It is made of metal and extends for full size beds if needed.
The one I got comes with a mounting plate and magnets on the grabber. The mounting plate comes with self tapping screws, however I wasn't comfortable drilling into the bed. What I wound up doing was drilling out the mounting hole with a 17/64" bit and then mounting it via the bed cubby.
The tool is light enough that you really don't need to second mounting hole. I just torqued that sucker down. Worst case scenario it rests on the wheel arch.
I then attached an additional magnet to the grabber (the ones it comes with are not adjustable). This probably isn't necessary, but I did it just to make sure it stays put.
You can see it's pretty short when fully collapsed.
The grabber fits well and won't get in the way. You can see the bucket in the back. It's my nemesis because it always finds its way back there lol.
With the cover back in place. Total install with my minor modifications was 10-15 minutes. 100% worth it, I have been wanting something like this forever.

Link to the magnets (they come with double stick tape). They are strong enough to stick to the bed through the bedliner: https://amzn.to/4yETbIC
If you have any questions, please ask. This is like the perfect bed accessory IMHO.
