Per the article, it is not a Top Safety Pick + due to the headlights on lower tier models. The Bronco Sport meanwhile earned to Top Safety Pick +. I have no doubt the Maverick will be equal or better.

Maverick did live testing against a semi and a barbed wire fence. I was impressedNot sure if this was posted yet, but its another data point at least for those cross shopping between the Maverick and Santa Cruz. Maverick is still waiting for its test results I guess.

Teacher: "So what are some safe fun activities you'd like to do this year?"Yep- it is safe. Safe like taking a cousin to prom or kissing your sister.
I take it you never wear seat belts or a motorcycle helmet either? The whole point of wearing armor into battle and caring about the quality of that armor is not to dwell on "what if" but to feel more confident when out there so you can charge in confidently and not worried some random 14 year old peasant boy is going to put an arrow in your back.I have NEVER looked into safety ratings before buying a vehicle and I don't think I ever will, as a motorcycle rider I always leave my house with the mentality that if I crash I die so I do my best to keep them shiny side up.
If you start worrying too much about "what if" you wouldn't leave your house and end up in a Psychiatric Ward.
Who needs the safety rating ... didn't the guy live that hit head on with the semi? I mean can the Santa cruise say it could survive that? Not sure if this was posted yet, but its another data point at least for those cross shopping between the Maverick and Santa Cruz. Seatbelt yes since they are required by law, helmets no unless on the freeway or somewhere where required by law.I take it you never wear seat belts or a motorcycle helmet either?
Funny you saying "plane crash documentary" because I watch those all the time. I guess I came across a bit harsh on not buying into accidents. I guess from listening to many times of "it was an accident, not my fault" bubbled up when I was writing that post. Granted accidents happen where you are not directly involved in the chain of events, but get caught up in them, like your t-bone example. Anyway, this forum is about Mavericks and not my philosophy on accidents. I do believe, however that Maverick will do well in crash testing, hell look at the thread of the Maverick vs Semi! Still amazing the guy lived!Oh boy, you sound like a plane crash documentary. Yes, there's a chain of events to all accidents. That does not mean you're always aware of it or have any control over it, so it is still an accident. For example, someone runs a light an t-bones you. One of the links in the chain is why you left and were in that spot. Doesn't mean that's not an accident.
I hope the Maverick scores better on the new side impact test than the Escape. In the small SUV test, only the Mazda knocked that one out of the park.
I ride with the same mentality! However, I do wear a helmet all the time, I'm deaf enough without having the wind take the rest. Shiny side up, rubber side down!I have NEVER looked into safety ratings before buying a vehicle and I don't think I ever will, as a motorcycle rider I always leave my house with the mentality that if I crash I die so I do my best to keep them shiny side up.

But did he die? I mean could have been a lot worseI wouldnt be using the maverick vs semi as a win. The guy broke both of his femur‘s, lost the bottom half of his left leg, he has a laceration on his liver, fractured all the bones on his face and his neck and has bleeding on the brain. I have seen far worst crashes with no major injuries. I also seen not as serious crashes as lethal.
My point is that crash is definitely not a win for the maverick in protecting the occupant.
