About to purchase hard tonneau cover. With so many options to choose from I am lost. Some are 5.4 and 5.6, low profile, triple fold.... Etc. Just want to get a reliable cover to protect against wet environment. Please help find a good one for me. Thank you in advance. Share pictures if you have.

Just to jump aboard this thread I am also looking though weather protection comes tertiary to price and low profile styling. I think a tri fold to be better than the rolling/retractable ones.

I will say that all hard covers weather proof in different ways and can always be upgraded with some cheap 3rd party weather stripping.

I have the BakFlip MX 4. Seems to be a great tri fold. Installed it easily by myself.

I also have and, so far, really like the BAKFlip MX4. I have a good friend who owns a truck accessory shop and he recommended that brand and model because of few customer complaints and great customer service.

I got a Gator FX Trifold cover on mine. I love it. I like that I can open the last section up and flip it against the back of the cab allowing almost all of the bed to be accessed for big loads. A lot of tri-folds don't let you do that. I looked at the Bakflip but went with the Gator as they appear to be very similar and the Gator was a couple hundred dollars less. https://gatorcovers.com/p/gator-fx-tonneau-cover/v/ford/maverick/2022/

I can't remember the other hard trip-fold I looked at that my truck accessory shop buddy liked, but one of the reasons I chose the BAKFlip MX4 was that besides being able to be used partially folded or folded up against the cab for full bed access, it also was very easily removed by the use of one big thumbscrew on each side. The other one needed a wrench to remove two bolts on each side.

Multiple threads on covers, search around.
In the end it is more personal preference. Mostly, everyone likes the one they have; and dislike have ones they don’t.
No cover is water proof. You will need to put something in the ‘panel’ gap on the bed caps. And will you probably want a tailgate seal.
I started with Truxedo Pro X15 (soft roll up), but exchanged for BAK X4S (hard roll up). Like the X4S way more.
When you decide, PM @Realtruck.

I chose the hard trifold Ford offers. It has been dry & kept things protected for nearly a year now. Not 1 issue or complaint.

One comment, based on having used a hard tri-fold cover for years... It can be very frustrating when you put something in your truck bed that is 1/4" taller than the bottom of the cover, and the cover absolutely will not latch... It forces you to drive with the cover open, or to remove the cover - a not-so-easy task that took me at least a 1/2 hour each time.

The hard cover I had was a BakFlip, and it had about a 4" fourth panel that attached to the truck, and allowed you to fold almost the entire cover up against the back window. In that position, a couple of ball-end struts secured it very well. So it wasn't the end of the world when I had to drive with that cover propped open - unless it was raining and I didn't want to get my cargo wet. Then it was a real PITA.

Another point: My wife absolutely could NOT open / close the BakFlip tri-fold hard cover. The panels were too heavy and the reach was awkward for her. So she just LOVES the soft cover that weighs a tiny fraction, and flips open / closed with ease.

The soft cover that came with my Maverick First Edition is not what I would have chosen, but it has grown on me. I just delivered all our Christmas presents to the grandkids (and those "parental support units" that come along with 'em). Obviously I didn't want those to get wet, but there was one present that - no matter how I rotated it to fit - stood up almost an inch higher than the bottom of the cover. So I tried closing the cover, just for kicks. There was a small bulge in the fabric where the taller present was sitting, but it closed and sealed just fine! No muss, no fuss.

My only major gripe with this particular cover is that it is VERY hard to keep it looking clean, as dust settles into every tiny indentation in the weave of the cover, and like anything that is black, that dust stands out something fierce. Even after washing it, it doesn't look really "clean."

I do wish there was a trip-fold soft cover option that would fold up against the back window like the BakFlip did, but since I can just barely reach the two wing nuts which secure the current cover to the truck, I can stand on the ground and remove the cover whenever I really need the final 1/3 of the bed to be fully open.

I purchased the Truxedo Sentry CT cover and it is wonderful. I also got a great deal from RealTruck.

It is included. Also includes the drain tubes for the track. Just so you understand, no tonneau is 100% water tight. They all leak a little bit. Usually around the tailgate and at the corners. I have never owned a topper or tonneau that didn't leak a little bit during heavy rain or car washes. But yes, it comes with rubber weather seals on the outer edges, top and back edges. It also comes with a foam weather strip you put along the front of the bed.
