I've got a big old heavy trailer that I've used before but I'm looking for one around 1000 lbs. that can hold at least 3k to take advantage of my full towing capabilities. MY tractor and tiller are getting up around 2700 so I need the full capacity. I'd also like to find one with trailer brakes to save the brakes on the maverick. I've looked around and there are these jumps from 6-800 lbs. trailers that can hold 1200-2000 and then you get up into 1500 lbs+ with capacities in the 7000 lbs. Do I just not know where to look? Anyone got some good leads? At this point I'm tempted to custom build one but my welding skills are not the greatest so that is a bit iffy.

About a month ago I sold my 6.5 x14 to upgrade to 7x16 dual axle, brakes, and a hd ramp with back jack stands. Went from steel to aluminum. I think the trailer is 1200lbs with 2 3500lb axle.

Purchased new from a dealer in Holland Michigan on marketplace if interested. I went a little longer to accommodate implements.

Man I like that I may need one of those. I have a sickness for collecting things.

My single axle Big Tex 35SA is a 10 foot long by 6 1/2 foot wide bed, wheels and fenders stick out about 8-10 inches on either side so you can easily see it in the mirror. Capacity is just over 2000 pounds with a GVWR of 2995 pounds despite the 3500 pound capacity axle. I think that the single axle trailers won't top much over that without a trailer brake, and even then, it's pushing the axle capability a bit.

Their basic 12 foot long dual axle (6 1/2 ft wide) weighs around 1250-1300 pounds, but will carry a payload of 4700 pounds. I think that's kind of what you'll mostly find. Single axle with 2995 GVWR, and dual axle with 6000 GVWR. I hope you can find something in between - something with a heavier duty axle and trailer brakes would do the trick, probably.

Do you have make and model number for that?

I don't know the model but manufacturer is MMT. It's built in Michigan. I upgraded the advertised price because wanting the HD tailgate (can withstand more weight) also comes with rear jack stands on the HD upgrade. Also the add was a 7x14 and I upgraded or added 2ft to 7x16.

Brink Trailer Sales LLC in Holland Michigan is where I purchased it at. The person I dealt with was Lance. I've only had it for a little while haven't used it yet, since I drove it home. Same reason as you posted. I wanted to make sure it can handle the weight and I needed electric brakes. The other trailer I got rid of was a 2019 but it was just rusting away so that's why I opted for aluminum and to reduce weight of the trailer. Especially if I was looking at two axles for extra carrying capacity.

Best of luck whatever you decide on and buy.

I ran into the same problem. My steel trailer and tractor put me over the 4k limit. I borrowed a friend's trailer that was aluminum and it kept me a little under the 4k limit. I am now looking to buy one. The one pictured is a 16 ft, I am looking for a 14ft. They seem to come in at under 1200 pounds.

The 7x16 dual axle is about the best size I've found for hauling the largest loads/equipment you'll likely want behind a compact truck. I have one that I bought from my friend he used behind his S10 for a long time, it's a much, much older steel one that looks almost identical to the design style of the aluminum ones already posted, it weighs 1460lb empty. It's a jack of all trades size!

I looked on the registration and the weight on the 16ft with added weight with the reinforced tailgate and the jack stands is 1276 on this model and manufacturer. I just remembered it's was 12 something.

Check into Aluma brand trailers. They might have something that fits your requirements but they are expensive. I have a single axle model 8114SR that weighs in at 900 lbs with a GVWR of 2990 lbs. obviously not what you need but they may have a model that does.

Depends on what you’re going to haul! I have Aluma model 8220. I think that is the correct model, anyway it is 20 feet long & 8 foot wide. It has a full tilt bed so I just drive my car onto it and as the car reaches the center point the bed tilts back down. It has an off the side spare tire tire and a large box on the tongue for storage of straps and so forth. Anyway the total weight without a load was Roughly 1400 pounds. Check Aluma’s website for the specs . They also make it in a non-tilted version. I carried a 2012 Corvette convertible for at total weight around 4600 pounds
