I've been a long time defender of Long McArthur on the forum, and I have a lot of respect for @fordvideoguy and his contributions to this forum and the general "experience" that has been the Maverick and its ordering process.

I have a hybrid on order from Chapman - but that is neither here nor there. In December I ordered an XL EB from Long McArthur. I figured I could drive the XL until the hybrid arrived and get a feel for the Maverick in general and, at that point, I had several people close to me that I could pass along this XL to at a deal they wouldn't be able to find quickly anywhere else.

Rewind a bit. A couple of months ago, a guy on this forum was searching for a Maverick XL basically exactly my build. I knew I didn't "need" the truck, so I reached out to @fordvideoguy and asked if I could possibly just hand my build off to this truck club member. Tim said that it would be no problem and we got almost all the way through the process before the guy backed out. At that point I told Tim just leave the XL reserved to me.

The XL was built March 14. On March 16, my dad was involved in a really bad car accident that left him both unable to drive for 3 weeks and without a car. So, given my experience with handing my order off to this random stranger and being told it was no issue, I assumed that I could let my dad buy the XL when it arrived. I bought a Kia Seltos to drive until the hybrid comes in and at that point will decide which of the 2 I like the best. (sidebar: Seltos drives a hard bargain)

Yesterday, April 14, the XL arrived at Long McArthur. I spoke to my salesman and told him I'd like to let my dad buy the Maverick. The salesman said it shouldn't be an issue, he'd call me back. A few minutes later he calls back and tells me no, not possible. It has to be me only or at minimum me as a co-signer. I was a bit taken aback by this as, again, I almost handed my order off to a complete stranger without issue but now I couldn't let an immediate family member buy it. Fine, that's inconsistent and makes no sense, but I'm not walking on the deal.

I ended up buying it myself, but even that left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. When I spoke on the phone with the finance guy, he said that he knew when I signed my sales sheet that their doc fee was $299.95 and now it is $499.95, so they'd reduce the price of the truck by $200 to honor the original deal. I got the paperwork to sign and of course no such $200 discount was applied. So I reached back out and, conveniently, $200 just happened to be my portion of the shipping fee. Of course it is.

TL;DR - I got the truck for MSRP, but the Long McArthur experience is not necessarily the TIM experience. Tim is but one man, and he can't handle everyone's stuff. But after watching every live stream, after interacting with him via email and on this board, he set an expectation for the dealership that they didn't meet.
If you are a student of Tim's, you would also know the dealers are held to a certain standard of selling to the order holder of record. Moving the amount of inventory they do, it's possible they were closer to that penalty percentage during the later attempt to transfer the sale. They still gave you a solution. Co-sign. Even not dealing directly with Tim, you were treated with the same respect of trying to let you control your order resolution and keep MSRP. I am glad my Bronco order is with LM and I WISH my Maverick order had been with them, as well. I should not have had to work as hard as I did for price protection and retroactive financing rates, with my local dealer. And I will not reward them with future business, when I have an LM option.

This might have something to do with the threat of allocation cuts when a dealer sells too many retail orders to someone other than the person who ordered it. Maybe the guys you talked to thought it would be okay, but someone higher up said no. I guess your case turned out to be a minor inconvenience and they honored every other part of the deal outside of $200. A- seems like a fair grade.

Is this a message forum or have I stumbled into a theatrical performance? Your pretentious, condescending writing style does not hide the fact that you're obviously dense. Few things are as annoying as a person who is both aggressive and stupid, so perhaps you should pick one. But let me break this down a little bit:

1) I offered to transfer my order to another member here on the forum - free, of course. Tim approved this - Tim, the member here, and myself were all in contact with each other in an email chain. The other member backed out.

2) Because it had been no issue for me to transfer my order to a complete stranger, I assumed (wrongly) that transferring the order to a relative would be no issue at all.

3) I still bought the truck, and Tim himself admitted to the small mistake in the doc fee on this thread.

So, I'm not sure what your accusation of "side scam dealer" means. But you keep up the good fight, whatever it is you're fighting for.
And upon reflection, your terribly negative rating of C- that was roundly condemn by knowledgeable members of your tactics, has now been changed to an A-. PS:------------------- To " Damn with faint praise" You initiated this thread with a C- rating for LM!

A compliment so feeble that it amounts to no compliment at all, or even implies condemnation. For example, you claimed to like Long McArthur so much, here's a C- to reward them! But they really should have allowed you to bypass FMC rules and jeopardize their dealership!! WOW! Really sweet of you! A prince of a fellow! I'll give you the highest "D" available! Congrats!

So the C- became an A- because Tim said he would help?

Thank you for tagging me so that I'm aware of your experience. There are things that I offer that aren't always normal like giving my youtube community $2500 off our pricing on Mavericks that aren't taken by the order placer or in your situation giving your Maverick to someone else. There are things that need to done by the order placer if they don't take their order so that we don't get penalized. That might have been the reasoning behind having you buy it and sell it to them.

The situation with the doc fee shouldn't have happened and will be a learning experience for us so it doesn't happen to anyone else in the future. We have made many changes to our processes based on customer feedback so thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will have $200 returned to you by the way.
Tim is a true gentleman, honest and trustworthy. I would buy from him in a heartbeat…. And send family, friends and maybe even nominate him for Time man of the a year! Tim, you are truly appreciated.

I dealt only with the salesman and finance guy. Initially, the salesman said letting my dad buy the truck was no issue (which was what I expected). But when he called back, he said that the managers - which I took to mean Tim? - had said no. Maybe it was not Tim.

Could Tim have resolved it? Maybe. That's not really the point, though. That's why I noted that Tim is a single person. He may or may not be available to help every single person. So my review is fair, I believe.
Tim isn't the OWNER in case you didn't know. Of course, Tim can pull a rabbit out of his arse sometimes. SMH...

@fordvideoguy it looks like ranger and mustang are getting a lot build weeks is fair to say the ranger is about done for 2022? Also not single f-150 , is that because the marketed is saturated with f150 now and they are looking to build more lightings ?

Damn, you're whining about silly shit. Bottom line, the dealership honored its commitment to YOU! I don't see how they could have made it better for you.

My newest nickname for @fordvideoguy is transparent Tim. I won't ask the MTC to show me a more forthright, upstanding or any Ford employee with more integrity. We all know he's a one-of-a-kind person who goes above and beyond to make the MTC a superlatively informed group.

I cannot begin to think of how much we would all be in the dark about the ordering, scheduling and receiving process. truly respectable YouTube videos by @fordvideoguy and Johnny's Car Care are respected for their factual and informative content. The rest of the Maverick YT posters have an agenda or opinion that's not worth my learning time.

The Rangers orders are retail only and for the Splash Limited Edition.

Long McArthur has F-150 allocations for April.

Haha so many LM fan bois on this site. Honestly it's getting a little out of hand. Mention anything bad about @fordvideoguy or LM and you get chastised so bad by members here on MTC.

I'm sure Tim loves it though. After all any press is good press! lol

I have lots of respect for Tim Bartz, he's a stand up guy, who is not obligated to provide us with the detailed information he does! Amd now, I'll bite my 👅 and keep the rest of my opinion to myself..

As for Tim@fordvideoguy, who would not recommend him to anyone who’s in the market for a new vehicle, regardless of model. His actions give Long MacArthur a outstanding reputation and deservedly so. I would be thrilled to recommend Tim to friends or family alike.
