So, here we go.. Looking into options/availability/pricing on some Tire options for the Lobo.
Stock is 225/55R19 = 28.7" diameter

I'm looking for UHP All Seasons for my purpose.
My preferred tire is the Conti Ex Contact DWS 06 Plus.
But, I'd consider most of the big name brand UHP A/S; Goodyear, Piralli, Michelin for a good deal/sale and with good reviews/ratings.

What are you guys looking at/considering/buying/using?

-----------

So, 235/55R19 is a 29.2" tire (just a 1/2 inch larger), tad bit more sidewall, tad bit (10mm exactly) wider. I suspect this would make a great option, and even though its only 10mm wider, I suspect the Conti would outperform the stock Goodyear by a lot, in tread/traction/compound.

There are quite a few 245/50R19 options available. 20mm wider, ~same sidewall and same diameter as stock. Improved grip and handling, no change to gearing (Same size as stock tire.) The price of the Conti is $22 more (per tire) than the 235/55.

I'm curious about a smaller and wider 18" rim as well, so looked into that some. - Thinking that I may find more options or competition in this size. Along with the advantages of ride comfort with more sidewall, and maybe weight advantages (Less weight than the stock 19" fans and 19" tires)

245/55R18 = same size as stock, more sidewall, more width. Conti price change vs 235/55R19 isn't enough to matter ($8). But may still have performance gains in the form of overall weight (less rotating mass), assuming a lighter wheel is used.

My research has concluded. I’m going to have my local Firestone Dealer order & install some:

Toyo Proxes ST III
235/55r19

It will be a few months from now. I live in the desert southwest - will never drive in snow & rarely in wet.

I didn't even know "Street/Sport Truck" was a category.

This Pirelli Scorpion looks really good.

Winter rating almost seems too good to be true.

I do see some weight variations between tire of the same size, and this may be why UHP AS is its own category.
33 lbs for this Pirelli. (Sport Truck AS)
29 lbs for the Conti Ex.Contact in the same size. (UHP AS)

If you are looking for the best AS tire, go with the Continentals. That's what I ran on my F-Type and they were fantastic.

Thanks, I agree, I'm still leaning that way.
Its a ways off, as I want to wear out these OEM tires some first..and I'm trying.

I had the Extreme Contact DWS 06 Pluses on my Focus ST for just 6 months before I traded it.
They were really great.
Even on a FWD, and on packed snow I was very happy with the performance and confidence.
They worked very well in the Wet too.
Hopefully I can wait and scoop up a set on a deal/discount.
At least I have a better idea on sizing and options they are available in.

Currently I'm leaning towards:
235/55R19 (slightly larger diameter than stock [+0.44"], a bit more sidewall [+0.22"], slightly more width [+10mm]). Price is 'OK' for the Conti A/S I'm looking at.

245/50R19 seems to be another good option (slightly smaller than stock [-.1"], slightly less sidewall [-.05"], wider [+20mm], good availability and options from many brands).

255/50R19 looks OK (slightly larger than stock [+0.3"], slightly more sidewall [+0.15"], wider [+30mm]) But availability and options are limited, and, you pay extra for it.

I will be changing to a 245/50 DWS06+ when it is time for new rubber. Heck, I may even switch em out before the OEM tires are dead, that's how much I hate the OEM Goodyear tires.

I have DWS's on my Fiesta, and those tires are damn near magical on that car. I can only imagine how well they perform on the AWD Mav.

I chose 18" on my '23 because I wanted to keep the extra sidewall for possible rough roads and honestly some sidewall can help handling with the right tire design. I use the 245/55 size and they look amazing as well. Nice and beefy and handle fantastically.

Considering these, 18x8.5 5X108 42 MATTE BRONZE Konig Heliogram with 235/60/18 Michelin Latitude Sport 3 and TOTAL WEIGHT JUST 46.90 Pounds

Keen on the Look [bronze on VBlue], and the reduction of Unsprung mass, wider. I forgot [haven't seen] how cool the rotors look (the big rotors on the front).

With 245/55x18 tire, 28# Conti Ex. Contact DWS 06 Plus.

+22mm (0.43") of sidewall change. Total size very sim to stock, -0.134" smaller. Probably not enough to matter, but I decided for my elevation, I do not want to change final drive by much (if at all), so i find this ideal.

The only way to improve performance to some degree is currently to reduce rotating mass...slippin' down the rabbit hole.

Does anyone have real world feedback on running a wheel like this?
I know the Brand, and the tech, and quality..yes and the cost.
But, will it hold up to Daily driving? Pot holes/road objects, even [slow] off pavement excursions, or [rough] dirt/gravel road travel?
Or is this 'for the track'?

Honestly, with the extra sidewall with the 18's they should hold up fine. Most good brands adhere to the same specs for strength, etc. as factory.

Michelin Pilot Sport AS4 are available in the stock size 225/55-19, so I’ll probably go with that when the time comes. I’ve had good luck with Michelin PSAS over the years on many cars. I’ve also used Continental DWS before and they were also good.

The new Michelin Cross Climate 3 Sport looks intriguing also. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen their availability in the US yet, so no idea about cost or sizes.

Im not against going up one size to a 235, but I tend to overthink these things. I think the pot advantages vs. trade offs would be lost on a duffer, such as myself.

I am thinking of LOBO for my uses: long ski and hunting camping trips across country-- some really bad snow: Blizzak DM V2 on smaller rims for winter; standard tires on new truck for summer. Second type of trip: 600 lbs keel small sailboat in back resting on built in deck; trips from Mass to Toronto; FL and MD. Long high speed. Not gas mileage sensitive. LOBO chief issue is ground clearance--but not much really-- what to improve. With age and back things like seats and heated steering wheel more important.
Need better lights old and blind; last need deck above wheel wells. Given all of this should I buy a different one than LOBO and suggestions on above. Thank you
