I parked my Lobo for winter.
The tank is full of gas with gas stabilizer, the oil was changed and a smart charger is hooked up to the battery

Looks like you are done prepping your Lobo for winter, good job.

Now, I know you are in Montreal and that it gets a lot of snow in the winter. So my concern is your winter storage tent and it's ability to withstand the snow load of a normal Montreal winter.

I realize that lots of people there have these fabric tents on their driveways to park in, but I also imagine they have to regularly go out to sweep the snow off so it doesn't collapse the tent onto their vehicles.

It would such a shame to have that happen to your nice looking truck, but I am just mentioning it, just in case, as I have seen them collapse on vehicles before.

Have a good one,

Andy

You are absolutely correct.
I get out there 4 or 5 times during the winter to push the snow off.
I go inside, push upward on the tent, and the snow slides off.
The biggest concern is the freezing rain it gets heavy in a hurry.

Yes, and don't wait till the snow storm is over, eh!

We had an off-grid lake access cottage with a 10x10 ft tarp shed from Canadian Tire. It was North and West of North Bay, so lots of snowfall there as well.
What I did to winterize it for the snow/ice was get a bunch of 2nd hand thin wood fence boards (very light and free!). I tucked them up under the tarp roof and over the metal supports but I was able to support the peak by using 4 2x4's set vertically under the horizontal peak tube, thereby preventing the tarp roof from sagging down as well as it all was able to support the weight as the snow built up on it.

We had to do that as it took years to clear our cottage, woodshed, sauna build area.

Doing this, it lasted for years...about 10 years, till the cover broke down from UV and wear and tear.

I haven't thought of a way to support your peak tube yet, other then notching some 2x4's to fit your peak horizontal support tube, and put them in the box, as well as in front and behind the truck to the ground.

Supporting the center tube would help prolong the life of your shelter, just in case you couldn't clear the roof sometime. And the thin boards stop the fabric roof from being weighted down as you mentioned earlier.

Just a thought as to what we have done.

Cheers,

Andy

Not for long if it isnt very regularly cleared of snow.

The OP stated they will be clearing it regularly over winter as they are aware of the snow load danger.

Have a good one,

Andy

The popular and best "carport" brand is Tempo.
As a matter of fact they are referred to as Tempo's regardless of the manufacturer
I have one on my driveway that I bought in 1977.
I stored my F100 in it for 18 years.
Back then I tucked 1×4's between the cover and the tubes and never touched it until Spring.
Once I bought my house the F100 got the garage.
The Tempo in my back yard is 7 years old. There is as difference in the tubing guage between the two.
The newer one's tubes are thinner, so I don't chance it, the snow is removed regularly.

The tubing on one's sold by Canadian Tire have 5 foot centers compared to 4 feet for the Tempo. And the cover fits like an oversized sweatshirt.
The Tempo covers are snug they have to be stretched over the tubes.

Those tents can hold a lot of snow. Customer of mine had their stuff in several tents like these for years, even with the heavy wet snow we get on the west coast they held up well, that was until they finally failed during an ice storm.

Looks good. You'll be itching to stretch its legs in spring! Was up in Toronto in late summer (pre-LoBo). Love it.

How many tie-downs does the tent have? You don't get Lake Ontario winds but it has to be windy?

I have ropes at the corners attached to 3/4" rods hammered into the ground and there are 6 pegs each side tied to the lower pipes.
The truck is on blocks with 2×6 perpendicular to the blocks.
The 2×6's go over the lower pipes.
If these things are not secured properly they will take off like a kite.
