in the 80’s and 90’s, I modded all my car stereos because because I was young, I wanted the stereo loud, and stock car stereos back then were complete crap. They used paper cone speakers that were worth $5 and the only amplification was in the head unit. Literally no one made cars with premium speakers and an external amp. But that all started to change in the late 90’s and by the mid 00’s, most car makers were putting Bose, B&O, Burmester, Bowers and Wilkins, Harmon Kardon, etc. into their cars straight from the factory. So for the last 20 years, I have had no interest in modding my stereos because I know that I am now getting high frequency hearing loss and I don’t want a super loud stereo to make it any worse. So I bought the Lariat, specifically because you can’t get the B&O system on any models lower priced than the Lariat. And I am pretty impressed with the sound. And I have no plans to modify it at all.I currently own a 2023 XLT hybrid and as soon as I got it after having two others waiting on this one, I decided to upgrade the front speakers and tweeters. It has made a world of difference and I have really enjoyed the sound I am getting ready to order the 2025 lariat that comes with the BNO stereo my concern is that those speakers are equal to the quality in the XLT and the likelihood that I would want to upgrade them like I did on my XLT . Does anyone have any input on this and or have any experience? for a short period one of the other Mavericks I owned was a BNO stereo and a lariat and I didn't think it was that bad but I'm 53 years old and not really into rock out real hard in the car like some of these younger fellas do. However, I do like Good sound and decent bass.
