Hey guys, I'm a big fella, 6'4" and about 240lbs. I tend to sit up straight in the seat, and I have long legs. I've noticed the front grill work on the door handle irritating the side of my knee. I have a tendency to lean my knee against it. Anyone ever seen a pad to replace the grill? I suppose I could configure something. I tried putting my foot on the foot rest, but it's not really comfortable.

I've noticed it as well. I'm 5'10" and like an upright driving position. Learned to drive on farm tractors where there is no seat adjustment. Summer is brief up here, so 90% of the time I'm wearing jeans and it's not an issue.

We made 2 trips to the beach for a week each time. Both over 250 miles each way. First trip 98 degrees when we left and my girlfriend asked why I was wearing jeans and a Carhartt shirt. I said "I'm not changing a flat kneeling on the shoulder of the road in shorts and polo shirt. These are breakdown clothes." Of course I have AAA now days but still never know.
Yup, better to be prepared. Standard gear I always carry. Knee pads, gloves, rags, small tarp plus an assortment of tools.

I haven't seen anything. I'm 6'2" and sit close to the wheel, never understood sitting back with arms straight out, but I haven't experienced what you are describing. I am guessing you drive in shorts. I rarely do, old habit of wearing jeans if going on a long drive. In my youth had to crawl under the car and rehang the exhaust too often, lol.
Try Mabet or Maxzina.
Thanks, it's a small thing, the truck is great!

In Wisconsin farm use didn't require a license when I was growing up. I did get a license at 16 even though I had been driving tractors for about 8 years prior. Rule on our farm was you just had to weight enough to get the clutch down.

Yea . long legs here and knee leaning on door arm rest during longer drive was uncomfortable for me . I used an old sock with cut piece of foam yoga mat ( 1/2 INCH thick ) underneath and used lobster claw band to hold it . It works for me . my knee hits this area .

I would put Gorilla Tape on the ridges - maybe a few layers. Cutting a piece of yoga mat, as suggested, & gorilla taping over would be even more comfortable I bet!

I have already taped over the rear window levers on my armrest because I never roll them down but would always pull by mistake.

I also get ridges imprinted into the side of my knee on longer trips. I came up with this solution, and after a few drives around town, I think it's going to be a keeper. I cut a strip off the end of a soft kneeling pad and put it in an elastic ankle support. The heel hole in the support slides over the end of the door handle for easy on/off if desired. I rolled the cuff inside on the long section to get the right length.

Hey, that looks pretty cool. A sock over,...a knee pad.

Christopher,
Here's an idea from another member.

Cut this piece out of Amazon material just to stop grooving my leg, adhesive backing worked better than expected. 8.00, not padded

I'm 6'2". After taking my Miata one way for 350 miles, I wa sin agony.

I figured out that it was the lack off thigh support, as I couldn't extend my leg fully.

Ny solution was pillows and/or folded towels to support my left leg.

The return home was comfortable, as was the 500 miles each way to Reno.

I take the first one drive (50 to Tucson) in a couple of weeks, and will be bringing plenty of madjustable material for support.

Rule on our farm was you just had to weight enough to get the clutch down.
A gal I dated in high school's father tried to teach her to drive his truck with a manual.

Problem was, she just wasn't heavy enough

pushing down as hard as she could simply lifted her off the seat!
