I'm hooking up an amp with a Kicker Keyloc which is tapped into the rear speakers and other than some tuning that I need to figure out the results are promising. I'm trying to use its sensing feature to avoid running a remote wire (I'd rather not have to figure out where to tap into the fuse box and what tap etc), it comes on just fine but does not seem to shut off even when the car is off and I exit the vehicle.
Even if the radio appears off is there voltage going thru those wires for some time after vehicle exit similar to how the cigarette power jack stays on for awhile?
If yes is it the same Forscan setting to change the duration?

I searched for threads with Keyloc in the title with no luck.
Thanks.

After playing with other things all of a sudden it started to behave as expected. I'm still a little leery but I guess I'll see later on today if the amp stayed on and killed my battery.

The problem with using the speakers for remote turn-on sensing is that the trucks do things in the background that will send enough signal through the speakers to activate an amp or processor when you don't want it to happen. I can't tell you if it happens enough (or the devices stay on long enough) to jeopardize the battery, but the dedicated remote wire is always the best choice.

Fuse #6 is the accessory power that most functions like the radio (meaning when you shut down the ignition it stays on until you open the door etc). It's just a PITA to tap because of stuff in the way. Fuse #3 is another good choice but will shut down with the ignition.

"Keyloc" is a pretty narrow search term since what you want is the remote wire or fuse tap topic. Search "fuse tap" on the site and look out for fuse 3 or 6 and you will find plenty of ideas, none of them are all that scary.

Thanks for the info, I specifically wanted to use the speaker sensing because I didn't want to use a fuse tap. I'll watch it for a few days and if it becomes an issue then I'll fall back to a remote wire setup. I'll be annoyed because I think I will have to reprogram the Keyloc to stop looking at the speaker sensing, at least that's what some testing yesterday indicated

I'm also playing with a cig socket adapter with some kind of auto shutoff to maybe hack another solution together for future projects.

On the plus side, everything else works and I was able to drive around with a decent bump yesterday.
