I was out in front of the garage under the carport, putting a third clear/stain coat on some handrailings, and I had the Maverick key fob in my pocket. I couldn't help but notice the pickup locks cycling. Not sure what that's about. I pulled out the fob and laid it on a work surface, but they still cycled on occasion. It seems to recognize the fob in the near location or something. Anyone else notice anything like this?

The clicking noise from a Ford Maverick Hybrid when it is off is a normal characteristic of the vehicle's electronic and hybrid systems performing diagnostic checks, circulating battery coolant, and opening/closing high-voltage battery relays. The sound is a common point of discussion among owners, especially those sleeping in or near the vehicle (like in a camper), as it can be surprisingly loud and continue intermittently for a long period after the vehicle is shut off.

When camping, some folks park their Maverick away from their tent because the clicking keeps them awake.

Maybe this is why Frank parked away from his tent??

It's not the locks that you're hearing.

I had noticed the same thing with the clicking noise, another thing that was worrying me about the door handle lock and unlock features is that my wife will leave her purse with her key fob in the truck sometimes and I was always wondering if someone could unlock the door when she did that so I tried to unlock the door without my key fob on me and found that I wasn't able to.

Hybrid you say? Got one too, hang around your truck for awhile, and you'll hear clicks all day long while it's off. You don't even need a key fob nearby either.
My 2023 Maverick and my 2023 Explorer both make noise when I'm around them with the key fobs in my pocket..

Your key fob isn’t engaging the diagnostics going on in the background

Interesting. Both vehicles sit in my garage all day. I spend a fair amount of time there as that doubles as my home office. No noise unless the key fobs are present.

No fob necessary. Happens all the time regardless of the fob being in my pocket. 2020 Escape--- same thing... Drove me nuts at 1st on the Escape, don't even notice it much any more... though others complain. hahaha

Lariat with keyless entry?

No one seems to be commenting there is a difference.

Non-keyless entry fob doesn't send anything out unless a button is pressed.
Keyless entry fob is sending out transponder code for handle entry anytime it's moving enough.
Which means relay to enable the handle unlock is engaged.

In either case as commented - other noises/tests anyway. With EB and hybrid actually.

Before I owned the Maverick, I drove a Ford Escape Hybrid, same essential drive train. Never heard any clicks or anything out of it.

What year Escape? My 2020 (1st yeat of this design) Titanium made all the same noises that Mav does.
