Just ordered... Challenger 392

I'm not sure if going to reorder my Hybrid Maverick so went out today and ordered a Dodge Challenger 392. I bet this order will go alot smoother than Ford's.

My daughter had dreamed for years of owning a Challenger. So after getting a new job (with correspondingly higher salary), she decided she was selling her clapped-out, 12 year old Hyundai Santa Fe and getting a Challenger!

We spent a full day (Aug 20th, 2022) running around all over South Central Texas to see several of the MOPAR colors in person, and on either a Challenger or a Charger. Good thing, since we both decided we didn't really like the "Sinnamon Stick" (a metallic bronze) as much in person as we had liked it in the pictures.

So she ordered her Challenger in the "Go Mango" orange color – which she says is actually pronounced "Go Man! Go!" The order was placed on August 21st. On September 18th the dealership called her to say it had just arrived. After giving them a day for PDI, etc., she picked it up on the 20th. So less than 30 days from order to delivery.

PS - she absolutely loves the car, and says it lives up to her lofty expectations.

Sure. If you buy a car that barely anyone else is buying, it is based on a 15 year old design, it's gonna be more readily available. Kinda makes sense, no?

Yeah, I tried to warn her... But at least she bought an extended warranty! (They gave her a decent price on it, much to my surprise!)

Edited to add: Her exact response was "But you're buying a Ford, which has the highest recall rate in the industry?" I don't know if that's actually true, but it was a pretty good daughter 'comeback'... She can be every bit as snarky as her mom. (She obviously didn't get it from me! LOL)

Somewhat ironic, but with the rumors that Dodge will discontinue the Challenger, they appear to be selling briskly, and can actually be fairly hard to find - at least with the trim level she was looking for. We could not locate one within 250 miles of here that matched her specs (regardless of color). So I was a bit surprised it came in so quickly.

Car came in on Dec 15 and i was able to buy it $5000 below sticker price.

Mustangs and Challengers have always looked cool. The chally is a boat but comfy and nice to drive. I like the rerto look which is why the s197's appealed to me. Sorry I got rid of my 14gt. Had a 19gt right after and it wasn't the same albeit faster out of the gate. Congrats on the Challenger. I agree they are hot for being stolen. Plenty of celebs with them are on IG saying the got stolen, Cristy Lee is one of them.

With to kids the Challenger was the only way to go. It does feel like a boat compared to the 95 GT convertible I had. The new mustangs have no rear legroom so that was out.
