I ordered a cactus grey Maverick Lariat hybrid Lux Co-Pilot360 on Oct 23d, 2021 and have gone through the same waiting game and order conversion process as many of you.

My dealer called me earlier today about three customer ordered Mavericks he just got in, two hybrids and an Eco. When he called one of the hybrid customers, the customer bailed on him and told him he didn't want the order, so the dealer called me to see if we were interested. The order is a cactus grey Maverick Lariat hybrid Lux Co-Pilot360 w/moon roof. I told him if it was as he described it, he had it sold.

When we showed up at the dealer to test drive it, he handed me an email that he just got from Ford. It was a production notification email from Ford that my order was going into production! So it's raining Mavericks at our house today. WHOOPEE! I have not stopped dancing today. . . .

We will probably take the 'Maverick in hand' rather than wait for the 'Maverick in the bush' (that may never get built). The Maverick we drove will not have the private offer applied to it, but it's sitting there and is a reality, not just a 'plan' from Ford.

My dealer also told me that Ford has canceled three of his new MY23 orders, so he has been telling those customers the bad news. Bummer for sure for both him and his customers.

Did he say why they canceled the customer 23 orders ?
He speculated that Ford thought they could not build both the new MY23 orders and the original MY22 orders.

Since his canceled orders had already been assigned a VIN, it's not good news.

So the ones that were canceled were MY22 orders that were assigned a VIN, correct?

if so, that is normal. Ford, as seen in some other threads Such as here…… And Here….., has announced that they are canceling those 22 orders that have a VIN but have not been built yet, and rolling them into a MY23.….but it seems like the dealership has some actions they have to complete.

INFORMATION
Action Requested - 22MY Maverick Hybrid Order Cancellations - Follow Up

ACTION REQUESTED
  • Please be aware that 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders with a scheduled production date after November 25th should be considered part of the Maverick order cancellation process – the plan is to automatically transition these orders 22MY orders to 23MY on the dealer’s behalf
  • Before Ford can automatically transition these orders, dealers must change the Order Number of any new 23MY orders currently in the dealer’s order bank that have the same Order Number as the 22MY order that is planned to be transitioned to their 23MY order bank
  • Upon order transition, confirm order content due to changes in 23MY offering
  • Change the priority code from the default 99 priority code once completed so that Ford can prioritize and “02” the customer’s order
  • Review the Maverick Model Year Transition Private Offer for affected customers with 22MY retail orders that were cancelled and transitioned to 23MY
SUMMARY
As noted in a prior communication, certain scheduled 22MY Maverick Hybrid Orders will need to be cancelled due to a balance out supplier shortage. Any 22MY Maverick orders that are showing as scheduled for production after November 25th should be considered to be part of this 22MY to 23MY transition and cancellation program.
We will be transitioning these cancelled orders to 23MY over the course of the next 2-3 weeks but require the dealers support to ensure that there are not duplicate order numbers already in their order bank. If there are new 23MY orders that have a duplicate order number to those orders that are being transitioned from 22MY to 23MY, the dealer will need to revise the new 23MY order by November 9th.

Orders transitioned from 22MY to 23MY will be placed at a 99 priority code. Please ensure the 23MY order is accurate and contains all of the desired options given changes in the 23MY offering strategy (see below). Once complete please remove the default 99 priority code as this will signal that the customer’s order is ready to be prioritized with an 02 priority code.

MAVERICK MODEL YEAR TRANSITION PRIVATE OFFER FOR CANCELLED ORDERS
To support customers who are affected by the cancellation of their 22MY Maverick Hybrid order, we will be providing the same $2,750 private offer as was announced in EFC10955 toward the purchase of their 23MY Maverick order. More details on the extension and customer eligibility for the 23MY Maverick Transition Customer Satisfaction Private Offer Program (#38560) will be shared in the coming days.

TIMELINE AND KEY DATES
  • November 9th: Ensure that all new 23MY orders have unique order code relative to the affected 22MY Maverick Hybrid orders that are being carried over to 23MY
  • November 30th: Once these orders have been transferred to 23MY, dealers must complete order updates and change the 99 priority code by November 30th

So they canceled MY23 orders that had VINs…that is weird. Hopefully he was just mistaken….and maybe they got pushed to a later date

If he is mistaken, he is calling customers and telling them that their new MY23 orders with VINs are canceled by Ford. That action by Ford, is why I'm taking the Lariat that is at the dealership now and not relying on Ford to build the one they say they will.

We will be paying more for this 'canceled ordered' Maverick because I can't use the private offer discount on this VIN and it has a moon roof. Only the VIN for my converted MY22-MY23 order can have the private offer applied to it.

Yep, that explains the ongoing drought here...

It is strange that it is for multiple at one dealership…..

it will be interesting to hear why if he ever finds out and let’s you know.

That kinda doesn’t make sense. MY23 with vins canceled. Something doesn’t sound right. Specially coming from a dealer.

Possibly self-serving… hopefully it’s that.

Ya. I am guessing it was a dealer knowing he wasn’t going to get a lot of allocations and he canceled the ones at the bottom of list. And they weren’t really ones with VINS..
