I haven't actually posted on here before, but after seeing an "Ordered Today" thread I thought I should at least post some sort of introduction.

Russ from Alabama here. Last truck was a 1979 square-body Silverado 454 that I drove until it was stolen. Switched to a 2006 Mustang GT convertible, then to a 2018 Ecoboost Mustang.

Saw a Mav in a parking lot one day and, if it wasn't love at first sight, it was at least a crush. Didn't see the tailgate at the time, and took a while to ID the make and model - you don't see minitrucks like this anymore - but once I did, I've been religiously following all of the upcoming 2025 model news. After I heard that we're getting the Sync4 upgrade plus Hybrid AWD, that was enough to sell me. (I'm seemingly in the minority of folks that really dig the new front end as well.)

Funny story? My CB nickname way back in the day was "Maverick". So it almost seems like one of those fated matches that are too good to be true. But I adore this little truck and can't wait to join the club.

I suppose to keep this somewhat on topic, any advice on must-have mods once I finally take delivery? It'll be coming with the all-weather floor mats and spray-in bed liner from the factory. I'm probably not going to go for a tonneau cover, leaving it open bed. Definitely grabbing the Mabett fender flares, and struggling hard not to simply hand them my entire next paycheck.

Any cool build ideas that'll keep me occupied while I'm awaiting my build date?

Congratulations Russ you’ll love it I’m sure as much as you think you will - I took delivery of mine in January and it’s exceeded my expectations

Hello and welcome to MTC. Best of luck with your order, please keep us updated and definitely add pictures after delivery.

I opted for Mabetts mud flaps over the flare but I also got the one for the dash, the center console and the drink holder/trash can that attaches to the back of the center console but is accessible from reaching between the front seats.

Just wondering why you are not getting a tonneau cover? I would definitely rethink that decision if you seem to require one down the road. I opted for a hard trifold from Amazon. It was like $360 and surprisingly works well and seems more than adequate. Also surprisingly it was an easy 10 to 15 minute mounting after unboxing. It offers concealment and security to equipment I keep in the back. Easily folds up allowing majority of the bed or completely removing it quickly. Knowing what I know now I think I could remount it in 5 minutes. It also allows groceries and other items from blowing out and keeping them dry from rain. Up here it also keeps me from having to shovel snow just to use the bed. In any case I highly recommend reconsidering the tonneau cover down the road after purchasing and owning the truck for awhile.

You may want to consider a bug shield/hood deflector. I ordered the protective film instead but many on the site have had mixed results from mixed bug shield manufacturers.

Best of luck on your order and your Maverick.

Mostly just personal experience. It looks more 'trucky' with an open bed, and from my Silverado, I liked the ease of simply being able to toss stuff in there when there was a need. Plus, with this having an extended cab, I can always put the occasional groceries or such in the back seat.

I've borrowed a different truck often enough to have some experience with a hard top. It's okay...nothing wrong with it. But if I needed a closed trunk I could have just bought a car. Don't trust it enough to treat it as watertight, and don't want to have to take it off if ever I need to haul something large.

I know the newer ones are roll-ups or tri-folds, which are more convenient. I've at least considered it and might go that route in the future. But for now, the plan is to prioritize things like window tint and other cosmetics.

That's okay it's your truck. I guess it's perspective, I don't think it takes away from a trucks appearance or makes it more like a trunk. For me it just makes it more usable or more like a Swiss knife able to utilize it more or in different ways. At the same time protecting items I carry and protecting the bed. I keep a 4 way, tow hook, tow shackle, 2 receivers with different drops for different trailers I own, a hydraulic jack, blankets, the funnel etc. Just for clarity under the back seat is full with a inflator, deflator, traction mats, several snatch ropes and buckles, jumper cables and several other items but it's full. Yes I to carry some items on the back seat but not when my 85lb dog is occupying it or friends. Thus the reason I opted for the tonneau cover . Well also I do enough shoveling of snow around the farm I really didn't want to shovel my truck bed everytime I needed it. Besides I got use to putting groceries in the back. So so much easier to load and unload, no reaching or walking around to the other side. Anyway trying to explain why I opted for the tonneau cover but at last everyone is different, and I wouldn't want it any other way. Whether you believe it or not I wish you the best with your Maverick and whatever mods you like, not mine.

Oh, absolutely! Nothing wrong with trucks with lids on the back at all. Just not my preference. (It also helps that I don't have dogs or friends to worry about, and live in a place where we only get snow once every 20 years or so. If I were in Michigan, I'd very likely be tired of shoveling snow, too!)

Blue. That was my only real concern - I liked the darker shade from the previous models, and was worried this one would be a little too bright. Still, it'll look sharp compared to all the whites and blacks and greys (again, just my personal preference there!)

Sounds good I didn’t have a color choice either being I got mine off a lot when the original customer ordered it and didn’t take delivery and I wanted this specific trim level and options but didn’t want to get on the “order” train and have to wait for months

Please tell me that toss stuff in there includes tie stuff down.
One of the reasons I got a hard cover was to toss stuff in there and not have to worry about it flying out.

Was kinda backwards for me. Dealer sold me on the perfect combination of everything I needed, and nothing I didn't. (Things like heated seats might not be worth the higher trim level when you're routinely in 90-100 degree weather!)

Things were all but finalized...the truck was in Orlando, but since that time zone was already closed for the day we had to wait until Monday to reserve it. That's when we found out it was a custom order.

Good that they kept me from buying it out from under him, but at that point I already had such a good idea in mind that I didn't really have any other choice but to place my own custom order as well.

Russ,
Congratulations on your decisio. My Eruption Green Lariat Hybrid just arrived at my dealership. Waiting to see how long it will take for them to call me. I am thinking about the “Flated” Air Topper for my bed. Looks super easy to take on and off without assistance. Kind of expensive, $1400, but looks like a good compromise in bed coverings. I did get the 4K towing package and moon roof.
