If it's only temporary, the Escapes/Bronco's use the same platform - that would at least get you something "familiar" assuming you can even get one of those. No bed either, so not sure if that's something you can live without temporarily.

Honestly, I'd buy something cheap then place another order - or browse Edmunds (CarMax) for something used with basically zero mileage.
unfortunately there are few cheap reliable vehicles out there and repair bills are outrageous with the going labor rate pushing $100 an hour, have to pay at least 8K for something somewhat reliable and with used vehicle financing interest rates higher than new cars it is a tough situation if you do not have a backup vehicle. Add to it the luck of the draw if you put in a '24 order and the situation is even worse. A bad place to be in.

Yes I am thankful he did not hit me square on the door or would have been in the hospital or worse. I'm still pretty banged up though on my left side. He spun the truck 180 degrees and police estimate from the video he was going 45 mph and no skid marks. If I was not in an office position I would be out of work. There has to be greater consequences for people who circumvent our laws. Yeah, they wrote him tickets but you think he'll pay??? They could not even verify who he was. He had a foreign license and that's it. Why can ANYONE operate a vehicle in another country without first taking a driving proficiency AND exam that tests the rules of the road in said country including understanding signage. Yes, could he even read signs that display WRONG WAY or YIELD or DO NOT ENTER? He certainly could not understand or speak those phrases. He said he lived in another state and was driving a vehicle registered in PA to another person, with a foreign name (and no I'm not knocking foreigners who comply with our laws) but does not know the owner??? Seriously? My point and frustration, 1. He should have NEVER been in the road 2. He blatantly lied about having the right-of-way (thank you dash cam!) 3. He destroyed my truck and injured me while illegally and negligently operating a 3500 pound projectile, 4. And lastly, face zero consequences! Ironically, if I was the striking vehicle in a similar incident, he would be in easy street! I'm just extremely frustrated with doing the right thing all my life and seeing practically no benefit compared to people who could care less about anything. Ugh. Sorry for the rant.
Well after reading this I understand that you was slightly injured and very upset and angry who wouldn't be. A dash Cam actually helped me once in my life prove that I was in the right I was not injured and lucky for me the other operator was actually licensed and I was compensated for it. There seems to be lack of control over this issue yet if you and I do something wrong or fail to pay a ticket they're willing to set consequences on us immediately. And now you have to acquire a Maverick and perhaps wait another 10 to 12 months for it or just purchase another vehicle if you're really in need for one at the moment. Hope everything works out well for you.

Looks like the truck held up well and protected you, along with the Lord. I am thankful you are ok. Hopefully your insurance company will be good to you and the price hikes on the '24's are not too bad!

I drive a shuttle van for a resort here in Tucson. I sit a little higher than a lot of vehicles and I see drivers with cell phones in their hands everywhere everyday. It’s a problem for sure. Be careful out there everyone. Glad you’re ok OP.

Sorry for your loss and glad to hear you didn't have any serious injuries.

As someone who worked for Nevada Highway Patrol out of Las Vegas for 6 years, my personal advice to all members on here are to ALWAYS:

1. Install a dashcam in your vehicle. Even a cheap $50 one that records mediocre 1080p is at least something to CYA in the event of an incident. Plenty of very good options for under $100: the day I took delivery of my Maverick I put in an $80 camera that records 2k quality at 60fps. In the unlikely event something happens, there is at least a decent record of what transpired. A lot of people online will spend too much time going over image quality and license plate clarity from X distance; the important thing is to at least have one in your vehicle. Buy a cheap one and then upgrade in a month after you dive down the rabbit hole if you want to, just get one in your vehicle!

2. If you ever are involved in an accident with significant damage, request to be checked out by EMS. Even if you feel 100% fine! You can 100% refuse transport, but having them respond on-scene to evaluate you is another massive CYA for you, your insurance, and for police to prioritize responding to your accident. There are always the anecdotal stories of people who get into accidents and feel fine but are hospitalized or die the next day because of internal bleeding or some other accident-related trauma; but my rationale is more from the first responder and long-term insurance angles. Having once sentence in the accident report saying something along the lines of "Driver 1 requested medical, assessed on scene for sore X, refused transportation" can make a world of difference after the fact when it comes to insurance and any potential litigation.

Stay safe out there, everybody.

Buy your truck back and keep it for a spare for parts for your 2024!
Most states won't allow that on a late model. Even if they do, auction value is likely to be $15K. A bit pricey for spare parts.

It's almost like no one sees these trucks! Too many getting hit.
