Issue with window, taking to ford for warranty.

Just started last night where rolling up my passenger window, it will reach the top of the frame, then immediately roll down 3/4 of the way. Seems the window somehow is incorrectly sensing an obstruction in the window area when it makes contact with the top of the frame.

   WARNING: Keep objects and body parts clear of the glass panel when carrying out the initialization procedure. During the initialization procedure, the glass panel closes with high force and cannot detect objects in its path. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.
   NOTE: Make sure that the window runs are correctly installed and free of foreign material.
   Start the engine.
3. Press and hold the window control switch until the door window is fully open.
4. Release the window control switch.
5. NOTE: All of the remaining steps must be carried out within 30 seconds from start to finish.
   Lift and hold the window control switch until the door window stalls in the fully closed position for 2 seconds.
6. Release the window control switch.
7. Press and hold the window control switch until the door window stalls in the fully open position for 2 seconds.
8. Release the window control switch.
9. Lift and hold the window control switch until the door window stalls in the fully closed position for 2 seconds.
10. Test for correct window operation by carrying out the one-touch down and one-touch up features.

If you do this, I can almost guarantee it will save you a visit to the dealer...

Do this. I had to do the same thing to my Escape last year. Zero issues since.

I work in a Ford service department - this is the Ford workshop manual procedure - I knew how to do it, but worried my wording would get confusing, LOL

Thank you for the very informative reply. I saw it when I was at the service lane, and the service writer came out and did these Ezra t steps and sent me on my way. I was also heading to the parts counter anyway to use some of those points for floor mats, since they match the 18% discount on fords website. So not a complete waste of a trip.

Lots of good info in the manual, if people would only read it... (Of course, I'm equally guilty of failing to find pertinent info in the manual... )

Yeah - glad to see I'm not the only one occasionally having trouble with the "layout" of the owner's manual. It seems like you almost have to know what Ford calls the item to be able to figure out where to look for it. Index could be a lot better. Sometimes I find it helpful just to actually read (versus "skim") the table of contents. Sometimes you get contextual hints that way.
