Well, problems again with USB playlists. Suddenly my radio doesn't see ANY playlists after the scan. I did not make any changes to the USB drive. I checked and all the files are still there. I re-copied them all to make sure they weren't corrupted. Still nothing.

The ONLY thing that has occurred is that I took the vehicle in for the two recall updates, which should have only updated the BCM. In addition, I think I remember the playlist was working after the recall updates. It was a day or two later, I noticed they were not working. Head scratching here and really quite frustrated, especially since I'm going on a road trip soon. Why is this such a hard thing for Ford to implement?

The USB file playback setup is a hot-mess on the Maverick (non Sync3). I wish my iPod would work with it. I have had numerous frustrations with it. Can't browse until it scans (why does it have to scan every time you start the car?), you can't browse while in motion, and it doesn't go back to the same spot you were at when browsing. So basically, you have to sit there for 5+ minutes after starting the truck, then select, otherwise, you are trying to do it at a stoplight which can be frustrating, or you have to pull over to a parking lot and make a selection. After each album is finished, you have to repeat the process.

I was hoping to make it easier to at least bring up a playlist of all albums by each of my favorite artists, so I put 24 M3U playlists on my USB stick, each for an artist with all their albums in chronological release order. Turns out the playlist feature is broken too. Out of those 24 M3U, it only sees two playlists, and in those playlists, it only shows about 1 album worth of music, and they aren't in correct order! WTF?

And if the official Ford account here chimes in and asks me for my VIN "to look into it", I will ignore because there is nothing they can do.
Now you can browse your USB in motion with the new forscan mod

Yes, I did that long ago. That is a dated post.
Are you sure about that? If you only change the setting in the APIM (like every post I found said) nav in motion will not work on the Maverick. You have to change the setting in the ACM and APIM. And this is specific to the lariat

I am saying that I fixed that issue, with FORScan, for myself, a long time ago.

I don't have an APIM in my non-sync Lariat. Nav in motion is not an issue for me now, just the playlist function suddenly not working.

In the 2022 and 2023 model years, you had to get the Lariat Luxury Package to get Sync3. 2024 made it standard for all Lariats

After a month + of frustrations, I was able to get my USB Playlists working again. Last Saturday, I used a Linux laptop to reformat my USB drive to FAT32, then I synced over all my MP3 music again, but this time, I moved everything to the root folder. No more Music folder. Now the root has all the playlist M3U files, and also has a folder for each Artist. Under each Artist, I have folders for each album.

Of course, that required me to remove the ../Music/ from file paths in each M3U file, but luckily, using Linux's text editor, this was a fast process using Replace All feature. It took less than 15 minutes to edit them all.

Now, when I first installed the newly formatted USB, it gave me all kinds of hell (10+ minutes to index, unresponsive to touch, locking up, not showing all the playlists), just like when I first created a USB with the M3U files last September. After driving into the city and back a few hours later, it still wasn't working correctly. I was going to give up on everything and buy a new USB stick, but magically, after sitting in the garage all day Sunday, on Monday I had 40+ playlists working and my indexing was taking less than 3 minutes again. No explanation as to why it doesn't work for hours after putting in a new USB, but works fine two days later. There are clearly some hidden things going on with this primitive infotainment system. Oh, I wish I had the Sync 4 system that's coming in the '25 models.
