People refer to their vehicles as He or She. What about your Maverick?
He’s Larry Lariat. My wife has a Genesis G90 and she’s Genevieve.
My 2008 Ford Ranger is just known as Red Rick

Technically English is a genderless language. Interesting factoid that in French or Spanish there would be a gender assigned to any vehicle by definition (because the word itself would have gender). At least I think so, if I remember my language lessons correctly (40 years ago).

My Maverick, Insurrection, is he/him, she/her, they/them, whatever other pronouns there are. I can't keep up. It's a truck, or a truckette. I'm confused by it all.

"It". To anthropomorphize a mechanical object is a mental disfunction.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anthropomorphize
The word anthropomorphize means to attribute human form or personality to things not human. The does not seem to me what is happening with giving a name to our trucks. Some say that gendering can help us connect with inanimate objects, making them seem more familiar and relatable. That does not mean we are mistaking them for or considering them humans.

It may interest you to know that English does not as a rule assign gender to nouns but every noun in Spanish has a gender – either male or female. Interestingly the Spanish words for truck and car are masculine but the words for hand and motorcycle are feminine. And then there are boats. The tradition of referring to boats as “she” and giving them female names stems from the profound love and admiration that men have for women. By using feminine pronouns for boats, men symbolically link their affection for these vessels with the emotions they associate with women.

A "mental disfunction"? Really? That seems rather insulting to all those who have given names to their trucks.

Can we change the subject!!! Really, vehicles names? Anybody change their timing belt yet! Discuss amongst yourselves! Hmm.. that would make for an interesting topic, I think I’ll add that to the forum, in time.
