My 09 Jeep Grand Cherokee just met its end after 173,000 so I'm in a hurry to replace. I have an opportunity to grab one scheduled to hit the dealer in a week or so with all the options I'm looking for including the color but without the lux package. I figure I can always do a spray in liner later on and the one I would get comes with FX4 and AWD so that would take care of the tow hitch. I may even upgrade the cloth seats to Katzkin leather which I could even add heated seats if I wanted. I don't live in a cold climate so trying to figure out what else I would be missing out on that could not be added later on and that I would regret not having. Only thing I can think of is the 8-way power driver seat but is that enough of a deal breaker since I can't wait too long to be without a car. Any thoughts?

The only thing I wanted was heated seats, but not enough to get the package

For me, the heated seats and steering wheel are a must have at this point but I live in PA and the winters suck. That was a significant reason for me to get the Lux. The other adds are nice but weren’t a deal breaker for me. Every situation is different but I think you go with what’s best for you

Lol if you don’t live in a cold climate then what’s the point of Lux? Other than the cold weather stuff the difference is the bed which you can DIY or do later for much cheaper, the internal outlet which is only $150, trailer hitch $100 and dual zone climate which for me causes way more annoyance than anything else. I’m happy to adjust my climate to the passenger once in a while, or literally just adjust the vents a bit and everyone’s happy.

All said and done I’m thinking you’re looking at $1000 even you choose to do everything I mentioned above. Vs $2345 for the Lux made the choice easy for me.

You won't get the remote start key fob if that matters. You can still use the FordPass app to remote start though. And living in Pennsylvania with cold winters, the heated seats, mirrors, steering wheel, and wiper deicer, are all welcome!

I don't think power seats are that important, I rarely use the power seats to make adjustments in my current vehicle. Unless someone else like your wife is going to drive it often, then power seats would be convenient.

The bolded parts are things I was going to buy or really want.
The italicized are really nice things to come alone
I have a 2.0AWD so the spare doesn't make sense.

Package Features Include:
  • 8-Way Power Driver and 6-Way Manual Passenger Seats ($1000???)
  • 400W/110V Inverter (Cab Outlet with USB in Rear Console + Bed Outlet) ($150)
  • Bed Tie Down Locking Rails with 2 Locking Brackets ($150)
  • Bedliner – Spray-in ($425)
  • Full-Size Spare Included with the Lux package on HYBRID (no charge)
  • Heated Mirror with Body-color Skull Caps ($500?)
  • Heated Seats ($200+)
  • Key Fob with Remote Start ($200+)
  • Leather Wrapped Heated Steering Wheel ($50)
  • LED Box Lighting ($100)
  • Trailer Hitch with 4-Pin Connector ($100)
  • Windshield Wiper De-Icer ($100)
Total? $2975???
The Lux package is $2345 extra

If you just want Bedliner ($425), Remote start ($200+), Heated Seats ($200), Trailer Hitch ($100) you could probably get these ad hoc or aftermarket for $1000-1500

The other stuff you just can't get aftermarket or ad-hoc, and that is really where it comes in handy.

Overall its not a huge steal for me as I don't care about power seats, but getting effectively a "Cold Weather" package for at or less than aftermarket and its pre-installed, makes sense to me. Getting the Lux Package was far less of a debate for me than between Hybrid and AWD.

Most of the Luxury Package is really a cold weather package. I don't live where it snows a lot so Lux is not really needed. Most of the rest of it you can add aftermarket if you want.

Your situation is an immediate need, and I would pursue the incoming Maverick.

Living in MD and our weird winters, I prefer the luxury package for the heated items, trailer hitch, and spray in bed liner.

Only you can answer this question, but since you asked, I’d say you don’t have to have it. Most of the upgrades are cold-weather related, which you said you don’t need.
I saved $2100 and passed on the lux package.
This truck makes sense when it is civic LX or civic Sport money, but the closer it gets to $30,000, the more I start eyeing other options altogether.

Silly observation but I was surprised between the differences in my initial ride report in that the leather steering wheel is so much better than the plastic/rubber unit in the non lux models. Hard to explain but it made the driving experience so much better for me.

I'm not getting it. My order is XLT Hybrid + full size spare, hitch, 110v in cab, air deflectors, and I'm going to have the dealer do the spray in bedliner. ✔ Enough for me.

i completely agree - if you're wanting a Mav and you're needing something fairly quickly, if you're able to get your hands on one close to what you'd order, anyway, if I was you that's what I'd be doing. You'll end up with a truck to enjoy before most of the rest of us, too, which ought to feel good enough to help you look past little things you might have wanted.

I think if I was just now considering an order and I found out a local dealer was getting one, I'd be pretty flexible about what it came with just to have a truck. It's a big investment, though, and ultimately you're the one who has to live with it.

It's an expensive package to get if there are no 'must need' options.

After deciding to go with XLT instead of XL, I shopped around some more than I was doing originally and ended up basically getting the Luxury package for next to nothing. Granted, that depends on your state, how much time you can wait (and you can't), and if you're willing to ship or travel.

For me, I have friends in Des Moines, IA so I decided to go with Granger Ford who advertise here on the forums that they sell 3% below invoice on all Mavericks, and I'll fly there to pick it up when the time comes and make a trip out of it. I had long planned to get with spray-in bed liner from the factory even though that was causing delays. My local dealer was charging an $800 doc fee on top of MSRP. My initial dealer I was going to order from out of state was charging MSRP and a $300. I ended up saving $1500 in the end, which covered most of the luxury package (especially since I was going to spend $495 on the spray in liner regardless).

Doesn't really apply to your situation. You need a vehicle now. I'd take the one incoming.

Are they going to sell it to you for M.S.R.P. or are they going to mark it up like other stealers [dealers] are preaching?
