FX4 has a little plastic air diverter for cooling. The PTU I believe. Also makes oil changes easy.

You should have a plastic scoop there that directs air to your PTU to cool it. I would get it installed.

I believe the cover or scoop as someone called it was the subject of a service bulletin [TSB] concerning fires? I noticed my splash cover had no cover/scoop in the opening after taking it the stealership for the first oil change - they removed it. If you haven't had a dealer change your oil, then they must have started removing it in production.

I noticed that opening when I did my 1st oil change,so my splash guard came from the factory that way.

My 2023 Maverick XLT Hybrid has the same openings.

The openings on the shield are in the exact same positions as the 2022 engine fire safety recall.

If I’m looking at the correct spot, my AWD has a plastic piece inserted there. Mine was delivered right after the recall with the new shield, so it didn’t have the recall

My XLT Hybrid was delivered at end of August and I don't think it has been to the dealer for service or updates (previous owner had it for a month) and I have the same large hole with no cover, no drilled holes for any fire recall. Does the app tell you if you need a recall, mine doesn't show anything yet?

No idea if this is correct or not, but here's link on evil bay that shows what appears to be a replacement and the pics are showing the plastic part on it. Might be easier to replace the whole thing instead of chasing a part not stocked anywhere. Just a thought. Good Luck

Is yours FWD or AWD? If it's a FWD EcoBoost it's not necessary.
