Is this bed cover installed correctly?

We would think that Ford engineers could get measurements correct.

It is just like the rear axle Not being in the center of the wheelwell.

I bought some weather stripping and filled any gaps around the tailgate. A little water gets in but is mostly dry in there.

Our 23 XL has a factory installed cover and it sits further back on the tailgate than the one in your photo. And I recently installed a cover myself on our 22 XTL. The brackets on the side rails allow some movement front or backwards during installation, so it can be positioned just right. As long as the front edge sits over the seal on the bulkhead, you can loosen and slide it all backward an inch or so.

Yes it is, obviously the cover should extend over the edge of the tailgate. But I didn't buy mine from the dealer, nor would I want them to install it.

I went with the Rough Country trifold, it extends 5/8" over the tailgate. I'd be upset the cover doesn't even extend over the rails or the side of the bed.

I know this isn't a very good or clear picture but I was just outside w/ the dog and decided to check the tailgate overlap on my tonneau. This is the Ford tri-fold and I don't know if it came from the factory or if it was dealer installed. However if you can figure out my crappy picture you'll see that there's around an inch overlap on the tailgate. I wouldn't be surprised if you loosen the clamps on yours and slide it toward the back until it's more centered, front to rear, you'll be happier w/ it.

I have the same cover and same issues. Went on line, and checked out the cure for this, and it works very well. Amazon had a 3M gasket and videos on how to apply. No dust and only minimal water issues after installation. Check it out.

Can you provide a link to the gasket kit you bought. I have been looking to get my BAK hard folding a little more leak protection knowing it will never be 100%.

Just go online and search Maverick tailgate seal kit. There are videos showing how to install. It's pretty easy. It's not 100%, but it is a large improvement.
