Is there any recourse for the '22->'23 rollover owners who didn't get their assist packages?

Hi, hello there, lovely to meet you all! I haven't used a forum since I played Runescape in grade school circa 2005 and I've unfortunately forgotten all my uber hax0r l337 sp34k so I hope normal english is cool here. ;)
I am a first-time car buyer, have ADHD and despise any and all interactions with salespeople, especially car salespeople. As you may imagine, this makes any interactions with dealerships a bit of a hassle for me so I am absolutely dreading having to deal with this.

I ordered a lariat hybrid in September '22, was told shortly after that it would be bumped to '23 as expected, but at no time was I notified that my assist features would have to be reordered or that any changed happened to my order whatsoever. I still have lane centering assist (which I love btw) but knowing I'm missing one of the features I specifically ordered a lariat for really chaps my crevasse. I even tried speeding up behind cars on the highway to see if it would activate!
Embarrassingly, I only realized when I started reading the manual during my free time at work that I didn't even have it!
Reading the forums, the general consensus is ford didn't communicate well with dealers or you were just silly and didn't select both packages. I was in full understanding from the dealer that my order did have everything and that the only difference was my order being bumped to a new model year. Since I wasn't on these forums I didn't get the memo to call the dealer before my build date. 🤦‍♂️

So here are a few questions:
1) How do I approach my dealer about this? I've only had the truck for about a month so far.
2) Is it at all possible to get the truck sent in to Ford for an install? (Seems this is unlikely but need clarification)
3) Is there any aftermarket for this right now? If yes, where? If not, will there ever be?
4) Would aftermarket options be easier because I already have the other 360 features?
5) Is there somewhere I can bitch to Ford about this so they'll send me a free t-shirt or something? (not trying to scream at a sales rep, I just want to talk to somebody at Ford)

I get fomo-type anxiety really easily so learning all this really felt like a kick to the ribs over something I was so excited for. 😥
Right now I just want to know any and all options I might have in getting this resolved, even if it means having to wait for the aftermarket to make some progress before they become available.

And yes, I saw the tutorial. No, I'm not doing that 😂.

Aside from this specific issue, I really am loving my Maverick. It's a fantastic vehicle and I absolutely cherish the opportunity I have to drive it every day. If I don't get ACC I know it's not the end of the world, it would just be really cool to have.

1- you go in person to talk with them
2- I've read NO.
3- YES, you can buy the pieces and install (or pay a non-dealer to install) then use Forscan to activate the new features. There's a good install thread somewhere. I think it was $600 in parts plus the work. Ford will never acknowledge that the truck has the features.
4- NO. There aren't any that I know of.
5- No idea.

I'm in the same boat that we didn't get the extra 360 features we really wanted.

Order a 24' model year with all the features you want, then when it comes in, trade-in/sell your 23'.

When I was ordering it was fast and furious in Sep 2022. My dealer was getting swamped with orders, plus did not get to study the information in advance. I know my sales rep, he does a great job of knowing the packages. We ordered based on 2022 packages. After I got my order submitted, noticed the 360 Assist was not included on the Lux package. Called my sales rep and added it. Sales rep thanked me as other clients were in same spot.

Sep 2022 was hard for everyone, short order window and the packages changed on the Lariat Lux package from 2022. It worked out in the end.

Like you, I find the 360 Assist a must have, so now that it is post delivery, you'll have to decide how approach this. Only you can decide.

From Fords point of view, the items from suppliers were hard to get at the time of planning. The 2023 Maverick will be unique in model years in that if you are buying a pre owned Lariat will have to do the homework to determine the equipment installed.

Fun Times.

Hope it works out for you in the end.

You don't have lane centering if you don't have ACC. Lane keeping without centering is like bowling with the bumpers up. It kinda keeps you in the lane, but not necessarily in the center and if you don't steer in a corner, the bowling ball truck is going right over into the gutter.

I have no idea what you are referring to about the tutorial, but yes, you can bolt-on ACC by yourself. There is a thread about it here: https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...averick-hybrid-xlt-with-luxury-package.14586/

Many people have done it, not only on Mavericks, but also other Ford models. Many of them nerds, all of them apparently willing to take on risk. I have never heard of a dealership willing to add it to a vehicle that didn't have it from the factory.

All your questions about aftermarket are easy to answer: no. Across the board, no.

Many others have the same story as you. They didn't know, their dealers screwed up their '23 re-order, and now they have a truck without ACC. You have no recourse with your dealership, zero. They unquestionably screwed up. All leftover '22 were automatically recreated by Ford as '23, but dealerships were told in writing by Ford to check their '23 orders and resolve any package issues. They should have added cp360 assist, but they didn't.

All you can do now is order a '24 and in the meantime, keep your eye out for '22 or '23 at a good price. Ford has 'fixed' this issue for '24 by forcing all Lariats to be lariat lux with ACC. You literally can't make this mistake now.

Thanks everyone for the helpful replies, I really do appreciate the kindness all of you are showing in my situation.

So I've had quite the experience today talking to Ford and my dealer, I've essentially been going through the 5 stages of grief in random order all day and I'm exhausted, but I do have interesting news.

For all those who're telling me to order a '24 and wait, there is actually another option I was told by 2 different Ford reps, a "Missed Deal Claim". From what was explained to me by the dealer and Ford reps, a missed deal claim is what usually happens when you order a new car and something doesn't work and nobody can fix it so they just send you a whole new vehicle at no additional cost to you. I wouldn't have believed it if 2 different Ford people hadn't explicitly told me to do it.

This sounds like amazing news, right? Just file the claim and you'll get your new truck soon!™
Yeah, a bit of a problem with that, my truck is Cyber Orange. I love this color and it was reason #2 why I even ordered the truck in the first place... I want my cyber orange. If I have to change to a '24 model all i'll be able to get is chili pepper red and, while it is a lovely color, it's no cyber orange. I'm still planning on going to the dealership in person and fighting this BS tooth and nail to get what I ordered. If I fail, I will have failed fighting for what is rightfully mine.

I love my Maverick, I love everything about it, I just feel so bent over the barrel right now because some bean counter at Ford was unhappy with the delays and decided the best course of action was to screw over and shortchange every customer who trusted them to deliver the car they ordered. 🥺

I've never heard of such a thing and I've seen at least 6 threads like this. I also found nothing googling, so it's either something new or perhaps rarely done.

Hope it's true. And yes, I can see how hot pepper red would be a reasonable second choice for you since you can't get cyber orange.

Good luck! 👍

Probably not something Ford likes people to know about. The fact that 2 out of the 2 reps I spoke to suggested this after putting me on hold to do research (one returning after 20 minutes of research sounding distressed and crestfallen) leads me to believe Ford expected this and is quietly trying to remedy the situation in their own way.

Also, I talked to a ford rep first before the dealer and when i talked to the dealer about my issue he just offered to buy it back, so I mentioned the missed deal claim. Almost immediately I could tell something about our dynamic changed, he was much more apologetic and sympathetic (appreciated tbh) and explained every step of the missed deal claim process, despite claiming to have never done one himself. I'll be going to the dealership to discuss this option further, this is apparently a pretty big deal.

Consider me on the warpath, I WANT MY F@%*ING TRUCK!

If any Ford reps here want to slide into my my DMs, they are free to.
