@CG - All the way Pic of said 74 mustang now, or it didn't happen. 😁
Wow, wish I still had it.! Sold it and bought a first year of production Toyota Tercel. Car-. pooled in that tin car with four other persons. It had over 225K miles when the engine blew because it overheated from lack of water in the radiator. Gauge did not work at that time. It had a brown hood, and quarter panel on the blue car; repaired a deer accident myself. Was almost glad when it gave out. No I do not have pictures of this either but that is the truth and nothing but the truth!!

I bought Maverick for family use, not just for towing the boat. Otherwise should get F150 at least. I don't like Range. The design is not for family usage. The price of F150 is about 100k, much higher than Maverick.
According to the price, lower than 50k, I think Maverick is the best choice for entertainment and daily use.
Price of an F150 is 100k? You couldn't option an F150 to 100k - get real brother

I have sort of been saying you could based on my experience with a boat which is 2100 lbs. I think if your boat is "kinda like this" with an older engine that large, you should weigh it and not be guessing.

Two Wheel drive vehicles get in trouble on boat ramps all the time, The issue you run into with a FWD is that all the weight being on the back reduces your front weight when pulling it out making it problematic if you have a steep, wet, or slick incline. There is no margin for error with this setup before that Maverick becomes aquatic.
I understand what you are saying. However, I do not think my 2100 lb. boat and trailer has more than 250 lbs. of tongue weight. Could I have two 250 lb. men sitting on the tailgate and make it up a slope similar to a boat ramp with the hybrid??? Not sure, but doubt I would even think about it before I gave it a go. You can potentially slide into a lake with four wheel drive, two wheel rear drive, or two wheel front drive if it is a wet slimy overly steep ramp and you kill the engine. At that point it is brakes Vs. available traction. That's my two cents worth and with current inflation, take it for what it may be worth!!!

How much extra weight are we talking in those 3 cases? Theres negligence ablsolutely but a little over by virtue of a few extra people in the car or a boat a few 100 pound over...

I got what you said.
let me make the boat smaller. If Boat plus motor plus trailer plus gears < 1600lbs, should it be safe to tow and launch it?

Maverick GVWR 8000lb
Curb weight 3600
Passengers 3x200=600
Payload 500
So the maximum tow weight should be 3300 lbs

This boat and motor with a trailer would be borderline I would think. I agree with the above. Take the guesswork out of the equation and get it weighed.

I believe your data is a bit off: Recommendation for maximum tow weight for a FWD Maverick Hybrid or EB with FWD is 2000 lbs. This number is related more to how the vehicle is equipped than to power of the engine.

The Hybrid GVWR is 6010 lbs. with a curb weight of 3674. The difference is 2346 lbs. If your boat is 1600 lbs. you have about 750 lbs. left for passengers and gear including fuel in the boat and vehicle at about 8 lbs./gallon.

I think your towing the above-described boat would not be a problem if you watch your payload weight and the launch will be ok, but do try to avoid steep boat ramps.

Good luck and remember to add the weight of your fish to the payload for the return trip!!!!

I am just saying it is a really bad idea and why. You or anyone else can use your Maverick how you want. Just saying I have seen FWD SUV's have trouble on boat ramps that had a greater towing capacity than the Mav. Never mind you are maxing out that towing capability and will wear out that pickup much faster, but again, YMMV. I would never recommend someone actually do it. I am also betting in that configuration, pulling it out of the water, the tongue weight exceeds that 250lb. Every thing about the question requires the perfect scenario to even be doable, never mind that it is not advisable.

I understand what you are saying. See my last post to OP. His decision. I suspect towing anything may be harder on the vehicle doing the towing. If maxing out the Ford recommendation for towing at 2k limit causes "excess" wear and tear, then then their recommendation is too high.

This may be silly to consider, but heck, I will anyway:) If the boat ramp has not been used recently, often the front wheels of the vehicle will be on dry surface while the back wheels will not or will be in the water. FWD in this case has better traction even though it is reduced by weight on rear of the vehicle.

Here is my boat right at 2,000 lbs. Launched a few dozen times this year, hasn't been perfect scenarios and conditions every time, but never once did the tires make a peep. For the other 95% of my driving I get 45 MPG+.

I even pulled the boat to the everglades to fish in Florida Bay/Flamingo area in South Florida 180 mile roundtrip. Averaged right at 33 mpg on the flat roads going out there.

I will say that the UK Hybrid Ford Kuga (US Hybrid Ford Escape), is rated for 1,600 kg in the UK (2,000 lbs US). The vehicles use the same platform and drivetrain. US/UK use different calculations to come up with the towing numbers, but if you tow close to the limit or over that of your vehicle, slow down. IMO you shouldn't be going freeway speeds with a trailer whether it's a 1,200lb trailer or a 2,000lb trailer.
