Is remote locking tailgate still offered/included? (Except XL)

Please, save me a trip to the dealership as I research my next Maverick: I’m noticing this keyhole on a lot of photos of tailgates. Please tell me that Ford did not stop offering the remote tailgate lock feature (Except, perhaps, on XL trim).

(I’m worried and strongly dislike that Ford seems to decontent their products from year to year.)

I just bought a new Lariat 3 weeks ago, and per the owners’ manual it has a remote locking tailgate. Apparently it locks when you lock the doors. I haven’t double checked that, but I suspect it’s true.

Only the XL comes without a power locking tailgate.

Good day,

I just took a pic of my Lariat for you, as I believe all the Mavs have key access.

I think that all Mavs have electric locking tailgates as they are easily stolen by douche-bag thieves...which is why they incorporated the electronic lock to begin with.

I also would imagine that the manual locks are there, just in case the tailgate fails electronically.

The tailgates all have backup cameras incorporated, which makes them more expensive, which is why they would need to secure them with the electronic locking system.

Only someone here with an XL could confirm or deny this supposition on my part.

Not a fan of the remote tailgate. I took the cover off and unplugged it. No proximity sensor like the doors and real inconvenient at times.

There’s a keyhole on the driver’s door as well. It doesn’t preclude unlocking with the fob.

FYI. We can zoom in to see part of your camera roll at the bottom of your pic. Especially the pic second from the left.

I have a 25XL and yes, it has the keyed tailgate lock but no it doesn't have an electric lock.
It's an option.
You can buy the parts to DIY it, but I prefer using the key.
I also prefer the keyed ignition, which is part of the reason why I bought the XL.
