Or is my humble Maverick XL FWD EB about the only vehicle Ford hasn't recalled the last two years? Yikes. Throw in the recent stop ship on F-150 Lightnings and it ain't pretty right now. Hope they're able to clean this up soon.

Ford has not recalled the 1991 F150 in the past 2 years and the 88 Taurus - no recalls on that beautiful machine either ...

BMW has 5 recalls for their 2021-2023 cars. Mercedes has 7. So Ford quality seems to be on par or better than expensive German cars.

In 2021 Ford had 53 recalls affecting 5.4 million vehicles. In 2022, they had 65 recalls affecting 8.6 million vehicles. Hey it's still early in 2023, might turn it around this year!
1/27/23 - recalled 400,000 vehicles
2/13/23 - recalled almost every 2023 vehicle with a 10-speed transmission

Man, I love Ford. Have been a stockholder since I was 18. They have some awesome products out right now. I hope they can figure it out on these recalls. If they can ramp up production and fix their quality issues, there will be a TON of Broncos and Mavs on the road.

Recalls used to be almost non-existent on vehicles. Now they are very common. Some manufacturers are more inclined than others to offer then based on many variables all relating to the profit of the company. Recalls are almost always voluntary by the manufacturer. Recalls in and of themselves are not a very good indicator of quality of the vehicle. Some companies simply prefer to wait for lawsuits and gamble on whether the total cost of them will be higher than issuing a recall.

Have cars gotten cheaper and more complex

Have federal regulations changed making it mandatory for manufactures to do recalls?

Has anyone seen the new sitcom "American Auto"? It is a very tongue and cheek look at the American auto industry from the upper management perspective. I think it's pretty funny to watch.

Gives insight as to what may be going on "upstairs" in the auto industry.
