What is a PandaTune?

If you are unfamiliar with us at Panda Motorworks, or wish to learn a little it more about our approach to tuning, check out the blog we wrote which can be found here ----> https://bit.ly/3HO2KM2

Below is our 93 octane and & E50 dyno results! As you can see we made considerable gains on the Maverick with just a tune! The Torque figures may be similar in numbers, however you can see on the graph that we are able to hold torque much longer and in that same rev range the HP sees a big jump over 93. If you have access to e85 in your area, then an e50 tune comes highly recommended!

Hey Caleb,

Hope all is well, I had a question or two surrounding "tunes". Currently all I have on my Lariat Mav is a K&N intake (not drop in filter but the full intake) a boomba BoV, and eventually a catback (mainly for sound)

In your opinion, what route should I go? Cobb + custom panda tune?

If I go the above route what does that even look like-how does that work?

Would the piggy-back system (panda power module) be the best bet? Does the piggy-back factor in the CAI/Exhaust? Does it even matter period?

Or should I just go with a plain cobb tune out the box?

My truck is a daily driver, I'm more interested in throttle response and quickness. I dont tow or give a crap about mpg. As it stands now I don't leave sports mode less I'm driving a long trip on the highway. My truck has 800miles on it.

I know I hit you with a lot of questions, thanks for your response in advance!

It really just depends what you are looking for on your truck. Is your warranty something you value and would like to retain? Do you just want a little more "umph" for city driving, or are you trying to beat people in races?

The AP with our custom tune with get you the most possible power (while remaining reliable) out of your Maverick. Your bolt ons will also be accounted for and be more beneficial with a custom tune. The drop in filter, bov, and exhaust is not going to change much, however bolts ons like a downpipe, intercooler, intake, will.

The Power Module is amazing for what it is. The ease of use and install with the instant power increase makes it hard to beat. It is truly a great bang-for-buck tuning solution. With what you have described, I think this may be the best route for you. Unless you plan on adding downpipes, intercooler, ect, with plans to make your Maverick "fast". One of the members on here has an excellent write up on it: here

The custom tuning process: Once you get the accessport, you will receive a "tune ticket", which is a direct line to our tuner. He will have you record logs of your driving with the AP and then make adjustments based on those logs. You will go back and forth (Usually 3-4 times) exchanging logs and tune revisions with him until your tune is complete.

We include a free custom tune with a purchase of a Cobb Accessport, so there would be no reason to run the maps that Cobb includes. Those included maps are just a generalization based off their findings on one truck under one condition. Our custom tune will be specific to your vehicle and your driving conditions.

The process of the Power Module is as simple as plugging it into your MAP sensors, and you are good to go.

Thanks for the reply, I'll think it over and hit you guys up. Sounds the the Power Module is up my alley. Especially considering all I'm putting on the Mav is the intake and catback.

Im very familiar with OTS tunes but not a AccessPort. If another tuner made a AccessPort tune for E85, or a bigger turbo, etc., would i be able to add download it and install that? Or will i be stuck with Cobb OTS and Panda tunes?

We will be able to tune for all modifications and fuel types, but yes, you can switch between other tuners who also use Cobbs software. You would not be limited to one companies tune

Finally got to install the base 93 Cobb tune and Sport TCM. Initial testing, im very pleased so far! Cant wait to get my catless turboback exhaust installed and follow up with a Pandas custom tune. For now its plenty quick, spinning all four in the wet at will.

Something i didnt think about. The AP has to be plugged in to the ODB2 port for gauge use. Kind of a bummer but i will find a clean method to run the cord.

Also, the pedal commader feature is great in reducing throttle lag, but i wish the rev limiter in neutral was removed or at least increased past 4k.

Overall it was a great purchase.

Glad to hear you are enjoying the initial results! Sounds like you have some good plans to make your Maverick even more impressive!

As for the OBD2 port being required for gauge use, it is a bit inconvenient, but we did do a video on routing wires up through the cubby next to the screen. We did a phone charger, but you can use that same idea for an Accessport Cable as well. Hide Your Wires

Again thank you for your purchase and we are glad to see you are enjoying it! Keep us posted with your progress and updates, I am sure the community here would love to know!
