I currently have an S&B intake and a Cobb Accessport (running the 93 octane and Sport transmission tune) and decided to try a little unscientific experiment. After driving for about half an hour in 78°F weather, I noticed that the air intake temperature gauge on the Accessport showed readings between 105°F and 115°F.

Curious about the impact of removing the clear intake lid, I conducted a test with the same type of driving and observed that the intake temperatures dropped to between 85°F and 93°F.

I’m not entirely sure where the intake is pulling air from when the lid is on, but I suspect it’s through the radiator, as my coolant temps were consistently around 178°F, which would explain the warmer air temperatures.

While not familiar with the Maverick ecoboost setup (hybrid driver), on my other vehicles,I always looked for inlet air temp to be as close to ambient as possible. Is this this temperature sensor at the inlet, after the compressor, at the manifold after the intercooler? How does the temperature compare to stock?

The sensor is close to the intake filter. I’m not sure how the S&B intake temp compares to stock.

Pulls thru just above the radiator, basically pulling from a low pressure area directly above and in front of the radiator. This is exactly the same location the stock intake pulled from.

Your data makes sense to me, I had one of the dreaded "warm air" intakes before I installed the S&B and my readings both before and after the filter were often closer to ambient than the temps coming in thru the stock inlet.

I went with the S&B as it is a much cleaner install and a much larger filter than what I was running before.

I wouldn't go back.

I have those with a S&B intake. I really only did them for the red trim rings and whatever cool air they may pick up. Aesthetics are important.
I forgot to ask, is the S&B intake noisey?

I wouldn’t call it overly noisy but you can definitely hear the intake. With the lid off it’s even more noticeable. Honestly I like the sound of the turbo through the intake. Personally I’d recommend it

You can definitely hear the turbo spooling while under boost.
