I bought a used 2022 Maverick XL which had about 8,600 miles on it. I understand I still have some of the bumper to bumper, and power train warranty on the truck. I'd like to install Ford cruise, but am concerned that doing so will void my warranty. I saw a thread on here that stated a person asked a dealer about installing cruise and the dealer said it would invalidate the warranty. Maybe the dealer was just blowing smoke?

To do that I think there would be hardware and software changes assuming you want it like from the factory. Technically if you read the warranty guide it would void it - if ford wanted to push it. Seems to me they would have to prove what you did change actually caused whatever warranty issue if you ever have one. No lawyer here, just my opinion.

Magnuson moss warranty act requires them to prove the change you made is the direct cause of the issue to void a warranty for any problem.

So, you can use any type of part or service you want during the warranty period so long as it does not alter or reconfigure the car from its factory specs. In the cases which do, you might run into problems getting warranty coverage for failures associated with those parts or modifications, especially if the parts are designed for racing or high performance. And as always, consult with a local attorney when in doubt.

That's a good read. It's certain that my XL was configured from the factory to not have cruise control. Now...what failure could be caused by the use of cruise that would not be attributable to a factory defect?

I've got to take my Maveric in for the side airbag recall and I'll ask the dealer about installing cruise. If they won't do it, I'll probably wait until my warranty expires to do that mod. Installing the cubbys in the bed is something I'll do however.
