are you talking about installing a power lock for your tailgate? Check out this guy's YouTube video. You may find it interesting.

I paid $35 for the actuator assembly but it is no longer available on Amazon (link below). I’m sure there are plenty of other places to buy from.Interesting, I might attempt this! How much was the actuator?
"elmeng"I tired of how the locks work altogether. When I come home and turn off the engine my wife gets out the passenger door and the next thing she does is knock on the backdoor window to get her newly purchased items off the back seats because the door is locked. What a hassle. Surely there must be a work around other than manually having to unlock the doors. This not user friendly.
I'm glad I could help.No I don't, Thanks so much. I've gone to setting before but must have overlooked it. When you look at the setting Autounlock it's easy to miss the un in the Autounlock.
Just buy the XLT wiring harness and actuator. Super easy.First post ever. Please be kind.
Proceed at your own risk. Don't want to be responsible for anything.
I’ll try to be quick. Through a combination of watching videos on how to add sound deadening materials (shows you how to take off the door trim), looking at ebay door wiring harness parts for colors of the actuator wire, and lots of elbow grease, I have managed to get the power locks installed on the tailgate of my 2025 Maverick XL Hybrid.
I don't know if a solution has been posted. For the past week, I have not found anything.
I don’t know the order of how each picture will show up in the feed. I used the passenger rear door since I wanted a door with as few wires as possible.
***** See Post #8 for updated instructions *****
***** The instructions immediately below include the work performed to identify the necessary wires *****
1. Remove the door trim. Watch a video on how to install sound deadening to see how the door trim is removed. The only additional advice is that there is a screw behind the tiny reflector (about 8:30pm, if you think of the door as a clock). See attached picture with highlights.
2. Mark the two wires on the inside wiring harness. White/Brown and Green/Brown. The wires are exactly 3pm and 9pm.
I actually unplugged the wire going to the latch assembly and performed a continuity test to verify the two wires.
3. Take off some interior trim to route the wire to the back door lock actuator. Not shown but I used inline wago connectors and plenty of electrical tape.
Also, took some pictures of the power window cover to show you the contact points and where to use the trim tool / screwdriver.
Enjoy !!
