Is that what you did? Was it east to swap out the MY2025 XL rear section wiring harness for the MY2025 XLT wiring harness? Do you have a Partnumber of what you bought?
that only works on 22-24 many people have stated this 100 times

I'm aware of the 22-24 XL lock add procedure.
I specifically mentioned MY2025 in all of my comments.

My questions were directed to the poster (macob-something) who gave the appearance that he had done it successfully and easily on a MY2025 by replacing the wiring harness... But perhaps, like most, he failed to recognize all of the MY2025 context in this thread and the model year differences, and was only regurtitating the 22-24 procedures that most of us are already aware of. I should have noted that user had a MY2024 XL EB FWD in his profile.

First post ever. Please be kind.

Proceed at your own risk. Don't want to be responsible for anything.

I’ll try to be quick. Through a combination of watching videos on how to add sound deadening materials (shows you how to take off the door trim), looking at ebay door wiring harness parts for colors of the actuator wire, and lots of elbow grease, I have managed to get the power locks installed on the tailgate of my 2025 Maverick XL Hybrid.

I don't know if a solution has been posted. For the past week, I have not found anything.

I don’t know the order of how each picture will show up in the feed. I used the passenger rear door since I wanted a door with as few wires as possible.

***** See Post #8 for updated instructions *****

***** The instructions immediately below include the work performed to identify the necessary wires *****

1. Remove the door trim. Watch a video on how to install sound deadening to see how the door trim is removed. The only additional advice is that there is a screw behind the tiny reflector (about 8:30pm, if you think of the door as a clock). See attached picture with highlights.

2. Mark the two wires on the inside wiring harness. White/Brown and Green/Brown. The wires are exactly 3pm and 9pm.

I actually unplugged the wire going to the latch assembly and performed a continuity test to verify the two wires.

3. Take off some interior trim to route the wire to the back door lock actuator. Not shown but I used inline wago connectors and plenty of electrical tape.

Also, took some pictures of the power window cover to show you the contact points and where to use the trim tool / screwdriver.

Enjoy !!

It’s crazy to me a 25 doesn’t have a automatic locking tailgate from the factory

I spent half of the day under 2025 Xl and 2024 XL. Was trying to find right wire that I can connect to. Interesting finding that wire colour's remained the same for 22-25 that are responsible for tailgate power lock. They are Yellow/ purple line and Blue/ red line. Cord that I bought for XLT 2025 got the same colour marking as previous models. It's insane...... But....main large cable under the vehicle that running from inside of the vehicle need to be replaced entirely. And completely not with it. Just by it self it cost 1400$ chepest that I can find and probably will take half of the day to replace. Tapping into and splicing side door panel is kinda a better option. I will try to look an easier option to run wires. Just wanted a honest OP opinion before I start removing some panels.

Its a Ford Dealer, call and verify if your not sure. A Ford Dealer would not survive on eBay if they false advertise.

Don't really need cable harness regardless, since there no place to connect. Bought all parts. Only actuator might work. Actuator not worth since you still have to connect other cables from the back

I work with several Ford Dealers and here is the issue. Unless you use oem factory parts and something happens within the tailgate and/or wiring, there will be NO warranty coverage.

If your willing to try other ways that is your choice.

Only XL's do not come with a power lock unlock tailgate.

I did this to my truck yesterday. The only deviation was that I cut the connector off the 22-24 wire set and connected it to the two wires I jumped into the signal wires in the cab. That prevented me from having to use the glue method. I had the parts laying around since I ordered my truck about this time last year (originally ordered a 24, then switched to a green 25!). It only took me about an hour total.

Can you post pictures? I am curious to see. Thanks in advance.

I didn’t take any pictures as I was following the previous directions. The only very small issue I had was the wire colors are duplicated on my truck. I chose the larger gauge ones and that just happened to be the correct ones.

MAV248. Thanks so much. I finally installed and hooked up the tailgate electronic lock. I found a powerlock on Ali Express for $30. I made a pair of wires for the harness, which I ran from drivers side center column down to the underside of bed and up into the tailgate. I made a connection to remove tailgate if possible. Installed the actuator easily and made my own connection using small connectors and sealed with clear silicone. Everything went smoothly thanks for the pics of the wire colors.
