I had the dealer install my trifold. I think the Ford website showed a $60 install, dealer wanted $120 but I talked him down to the $60 that the Ford website showed. I had to remove it and put it back on recently. I think it took all of ten minutes. I'm just going to assume the dealer wanted extra for taking it out of the shipping box.

I am expecting delivery of my 2023 FX4 this week. I went ahead and ordered a REV hard roll up tonneau cover from Ford so I can have them install it prior to taking delivery. When I placed the order, I did not select the option to have it installed for $96, as I thought this would be the same price at the dealership. Boy was I wrong, they quoted me $396 to install it. I asked them how many billable hours they were charging for, and they told me two. Any thoughts on this? Does anyone have a link for a DIY install?
These covers are made for home install. Save the $396 then show everyone how handy you are. 👍

I'll be another echo: I am not particularly handy and it took me and a friend maybe 30 minutes to install the tonneau with no instructions. Could easily do it in 15 minutes next time. This is like the dealer charging an hour's labor to put in a new engine air filter. Do it yourself.

I did a hard tonneau cover for our Maverick. Easy job and I was super precise with it. Have had it in the heaviest of rains and no leaking in the back at all. Do it yourself rather than paying extortion rates for a dealer to do it.

Tonneau covers are very easy to install. Heck, I literally just took the hard trifold one I have off of my '22 mav (just sold the truck without the cover) and put it on my '23 mav this morning. It took me less than an hour to do. They are easy. I wouldn't pay $400 for anyone to install it. Just have them throw the box in the back and take it home with you. Install it when you have a free hour or two. Save the money to buy something else with.

Gater Tri-Fold....initial install, had to read the manual, took 30 minutes. Now, knowing what has to be done, I can easily put it on in 15 minutes.

I was quoted $98 this week to replace inside air filter... I did it in 15 minutes max.
That is the tri-fold I have. I just moved it from one mav to another one in under an hour and that included me spending 15 minutes trying to find the little prop rod clip that fell off into my stone driveway!

Just another voice saying DIY. I'm a "mature" under 5' female who installed her BAK revolver hardtop rollup before my husband got home from work. Sorry but impatience is my super power. What poor hubby has to tolerate! He needs your sympathy... 🙃

Covers are simple to put on. I have a soft tri fold cover. I take it on and off a lot depending on what I'm hauling. Takes me all of 2 minutes to remove and 2 minutes to put back on. I know the hard rolling covers are probably a little more difficult but shouldn't be that bad.
Just received my soft trifold cover for my 22 XL. I have a question about the instructions. They advise trimming the plastic rail cover if it is longer than the steel side rail so clamps go on the steel. Has anyone had to do this?

I didn't do it. Haven't had any issues.

The $300 is the diagnostic fee they charge every vehicle that comes in. Once they diagnose that there is nothing to diagnose, therefore the fee isn't covered by your warranty, they will install the tonneau cover for $96

i ordered my Ford branded soft rollup cover online with my Ford Pass points. when i went to the dealer they quoted me $140 but offered to do it for 'only' $90 because i was such a good customer. they refused to honor the online $60 install quote. i am 69yrs young and not very mechanically inclined at all and i was able to install it in just over an hour. could probally do it in 30 min next time. all you need is a tape measure, 1/2in socket and some scissors. there are 3 brackets on each side rail that attach the cover to the truck bed. position the cover as square as you can(use the tape measure to measure the alignment with the bed rails), tighten the clamps and you're done.

I just installed mine yesterday. I bought it on Amazon for $199. I installed it in about 29 minutes. It’s a TipTop.

Ford dealership didn't include the manual I asked them for, do you know the weight limit on top? And is it per panel or distributed? Also, of the first 2 folds are laying on the third, can that be sat on?
