I Haven't caught a thing. Not a drop. Catch Can

I'm reluctant to go down this rabbit hole because I know it has been discussed extensively, or to even hijack my own post, but I mentioned in my Original Post that I was not using High Tier Gasoline such as Chevron. The fact is I have never used it on any of my numerous vehicles in over 50 years of driving. In a DI engine such as the MY24 and earlier EcoBoost, besides the injectors, what else would these detergent additives help clean?

Having cleaner fuel injectors is more than reason enough for using Top Tier fuel.

Dirty injectors cause rough idling, engine stalling, poor acceleration, power loss, engine misfires, a strong smell of fuel in the engine oil.

Cost to replace bad injectors on your EB will cost ~$1,000.

Top Tier fuel is about the same price as non top tier. Top Tier fuel usage is a no brainer. I say that because I know you have above average brain power!

The performance gains from using top tier fuel are very subtle and therefore unnoticeable in the short term. Kind of similar to an empty catch can in the short term.

Keeping fuel injectors clean is the best defense against the known issue of fuel dilution of oil in 2.0 Ecoboost engines by maintaining proper fuel atomization.

I have them on my 2024, but I wouldn't if I wasn't intending to keep my Maverick for 150,000+ miles. It's difficult for me to recommend a product to someone else when the cumulative benefits of that product are unknown. The benefits are somewhat theoretical, as we have no real data showing the actual impact of those benefits over time.

I can recommend UPR as a vendor.

Thanks for an honest reply. I doubt I will live long enough to hit 150k. Family history not on my side but that is why I take each day as a gift. OTH if you are in the south QT gas is tier 1 and I got great mpg with it. Wish they were in my area.

You convinced me - no catch can for my Lobo thanks. I am going to get the 300T intercooler upgrade though. Maybe all the fins in there will act as a “catch can” for the minimal vapors that make it that far

That's certainly understandable, and I wish you the best of luck. I think having the right attitude plays an important part, and you seem to have that going for you.

Thanks for the fuel tip. QT is abundant in my area, but I've always had very good results with Phillips 66 and I'll likely stick with it. Further south I tend to buy Chevron on account of their excellent PEA additive package.

I think an intercooler is a good investment for real performance gains. LOL to it acting as a catch can comment!
