I Acted like an A$$H0L3 today - minor fender bender

Dropped the Mav off this morning at the body shop. They said it'll be about a week. They said it's hard to repair and match a textured surface so they're going to replace the bumper. I'm thinking good luck with getting the bumper. Total estimate for repair is $2006.

Is the bumper damaged (cracked) or just scuffed? I can't tell from the pictures.

There's a better picture in my first post on this thread. To me, it's just scuffed. I wonder if they'll give me that bumper back, In case I damage the replacement in the future.

I was stopped waiting for two cars to clear so I can get out of the parking lot at the grocery store and this guy backs into me. I was upset and cussed a little bit. After we talked and exchanged info, I realized I was wrong in the way I acted so I apologized and we shook hands. Just a minor damage. Nothing broken that needs to be replaced.

Relax.... I thought that was a requirement for all Ford drivers, until I bought my Maverick.

Before Covid getting into accidents was not an issue. But now that what insurance companies pay and what the market wants with the supply chain issues.
Have made everything that was not such a big deal into a huge deal. It makes everyone edgier.
It would be a struggle to be civilized when everything is taken into account.

I worry about the unibody-ness of the vehicle.

This morning I saw a sedan with blanket in between the trunk and bumper, with bungees holding it "down".

And I saw a 4door Accord with the rear right door and back smashed in. The bumper was just flapping in the wind, the rear door window was all taped over, the wheel looked like it was an open car wheel as there was no fender around it.

A hard hit on a vehicle can cost a ton to replace- and the Maverick bed is tied to the integrity of the rest of the vehicle. See my thread on two totalled Mavericks- they don't look like they took that much damage!
